'celebrities' in adverts. With all the Xmas ones popping up.
Surely people don't actually buy more stuff because a famous face is being paid to advertise it do they?
-
• #3704
If it’s the face of someone you trust then yes, you might listen to the message and buy that brand over a similar one.

That’s why trusted celebs have been used in public information broadcasts over the years. Such as Clunk Click every trip and learn to swim campaigns from the early 70’s. Both campaigns featured well know celebs who had crafted a public image of being highly trustworthy people and probably had a big impact on public safety.

Was going to make a generic snobby 'have you ever met people?' comment when I realised I bought some premium bonds about 20 years ago based largely on Alan Sugar advertising them. It seems laughable to me now, but I don't know if I'd have done it otherwise. Doubtless could have invested better but probably not the worst thing to have done with the money.

Were you also the one person who bought this?

Bit before my time, but I respect the vision.

Testing by System One found that celebs actually dont make a more effective ad. Most likely it’s just an idea that clients like, and creatives like the idea of meeting a celeb

Replacing the front grill and boot badges of your 2010 hatchback with blacked-out versions. What's the point, I can still clearly see it's an Audi?
-
• #3712
You forgot to mention the raised letter plates and tint on the back lights. Oooooo, custom car…

Instagram handle on the rear passenger windows. Cunts.

Tom Petty
Ok enough time has passed. What’s the fuss with this average bloke? Why the love? He seemed ok and everything. -

This is a question that is asked about every popular band, you either like ‘em or you don’t.

I’d say Petty was different n the sense that he didn’t elicit a strong opinion until he died

You get this every now and then don't you.
I was about to give the Pixies as an eg. due to the way suddenly everyone started listening to them in the mid-00s, but then read on wiki that
They disbanded acrimoniously in 1993 but reunited in 2004.
Which Tbf probably explains the phenomenon.
Still I feel that occasionally certain music pops back up.

Fight club soundtrack in 99 pushed them back into fashion, I was 16 in 2000 and pixies were still on constant rotation at all the rock nights I went out at. MTV2 and 6 music also came out in the early 2000's. I don't think there was a day for the next decade where they didn't play debasser, here comes your man or where is my mind.

Why do certain people (MiL) put used teabags on a plate, saucer with a teaspoon on top. The plate/saucer/spoon are minging and there are normally 5 or 6 bags on it when I get in from work. Straight into the compost and dishwasher. It’s not fucking hard is it?
Boils my piss.
Founder is a big Trump acolyte. Even worse, they are responsible for those ridiculous 'Protect This House' adverts.
