  • I have always felt a special 'something' in my thighs- that and my super-low resting heart rate surely mean I am destined for greatness.

27 isn't too late to enter the pro peloton is it? ;)

  • depends how much EPO you can get your hands on..

  • Really like the frameset of this one. Heavily reduced in size 55cm too.

  • I know their mountain bikes are the nuts but I don't really know much about Lapierre's road bikes - though I did see them at the etape trade village last year and they're lovely in the flesh. Sizes are a bit misleading - it might be a little long though in the top tube for me though at 57.

    Shame, it's a great deal

Yeah. Bit long'n'low TBH. I just like the frameset alot and was shocked to see it at that price wearing ultegra. Shame about the wheels though.

The sensium is the more sportive-esque frameset in the range.

  • even that one has funny geom.. quite long and low too

I'm really hoping that Scherrit comes back and tells me I can buy a Canyon. Krysiums and Athena for £1600, and I love their frames

  • Ant (on this forum, and a RPLZ CC member) bought a Canyon, amongst many other things. He's also had a lot of difficulty finding frames to fit his short legs/long body build. Might be worth a PM. STE5 has just acquired a Canyon too. He's very tall, but I can't remember if he's particularly short in the body.

  • did STE5 get an alu frame? I think Scherrit mentioned recommending one to someone very tall.

  • thanks by the way

TBH its friday and I'm just looking at bikes instead of working, wishing I could afford to bring mine closer to completion.

Canyons are well nice. If you're buying a 2011 groupset. I'd go with chorus. Its seen a lot more real world upgrades then athena. The 2010 groupsets are a lot more similar.

Planet-X have a great deal on for Krysium SL's at the moment.

No, he went carbon. I think Ant's is alu.

  • Ant's:

    Sean's:

Hope they don't mind me reposting their images here. I can't see why they would :/

  • Love the fact that Canyon dont feel the need to cover their bikes with bullshite text etc. My BMC is like a rolling spec sheet.

  • yeah me too - I like the simplicity. Not a fan of boy racer graphics

  • Canyon's branding made it into Graphis Branding 5. No surprise the Designers amongst us like it.

  • The various tube dimensions really make that bike shine. Far more than any mad paint job could. The good looks of Ritchey finishing kit help.

  • £1799

  • yah - no. I know it's a De Rosa and everything - but that frame is hella ugly! Comes with Veloce for 1800 too :(

If I buy a Canyon i get Athena 11 speed and krysiums for 1600, win.

hot. Am seriously considering the Canyon's - would need a spacer or two to make it more comfortable but... they are awfully nice and awesome value

  • what has scherrit suggested to you?

  • Scherrit has suggested:

    Eddy Merckx emx-1
    Canyon Ultimate CF
    Van Nicholas Euros
    Cannodale Synpase
oh, and a roubaix - but I told him I don't want to buy a something that ugly! He's super-keen on them

From a pure fit pov - The Merckx or the Cannondale are the best, but any of the above will fit me well.

40mm is the usual maximum quoted for ahead set-ups. You can buy taller top headsets, and use fewer spacers, so that it looks a bit better.

  • You are aware of Canyon's rep for really really stiff frames? Only Storck* were stiffer, and that is apprently because German road surfaces are so good everyone swans around on Canyons and 50mm rims and German frame designers just don't really need to bother with the whole comfort thing :)

    *also German

    Thats some list.
    Get test riding....
....or just buy the lightest. ;)
