  • In which case they should pretty much drop in to the frame.
    Has the headtube been ovalised?

  • Not that i can tell with my calipers.

  • Any chance of some photos?

I'm about to run away from the computer but if no one else has helped you out I'll check back in later this evening.

  • Off to work. will post pics in morning.
    Thanks

  • Reply from merlin, it takes a 36/45 headset not 45/45 as it says on their website.

    Nobs.

  • Who the fuck did you anger in a previous life?

  • I'm really not sure, but of one thing I am positive; the list must be long and distinguished.

  • I tore up the list in the end, I got so sick of it all.

    Good luck becoming roadworthy...

  • Thanks. I've even sorted work out to actually allow me time to ride, amongst other more civilised past times.

  • ... Most people have a favourite set of pedals/bars/saddle ....

Do people ever use San Marco Rolls/Regal/Turbo on road bikes? (Road bike as in weekend bike, not your daily commuter bike)

  • I have a Regal on my Bob Jackson, which is my weekend bike in the winter:

I ran nothing but Regals for a while (hence the username). I started getting a bit of numbness on longer rides though, so I've experimented a lot since. But I still love the shape and stiffness of them. If they made a Regal-e with a channel, I think that would be perfect for me.

  • I have one on my vintage bike, getting used to it now, bit hard at the start.

A regal with a channel would be perfect!

  • I'm getting an itch for a new road bike, I don't need one. Got a nice Caad9. But I think I deserve carbon ;)

Not sure if I'm here looking for advice on what to buy( Canyon aeroad,Cervelo s/r, Scott addict) or if I just need to be told my caad9 is fine..

  • It's hard to improved upon a CAAD9 unless you don't like the bike.

  • I had a CAAD9 and bought a SuperSix, its fantastic but I wish I'd kept my CAAD9 too. By all means get a carbon bike, I don't regret it but keep the 9 if you can.

  • My System Six is 50% CAAD9, and it's a great bike.

What wheels have you got on there- changing them can often change the character of the bike quite a lot, hopefully in the right direction?

  • ^ This.

Even changing the groupset for a difference one also can make a difference (Shimano to Campagnolo, or SRAM for example).

  • Don't get me wrong, I do love the Caad9, it's probably the fact both the clubs J ride with are packed with £3000 blingers.

I probably will invest in some decent wheels, after I get rid of my PX 50's and riding some clinchers for now.

    Excellent point Neil ;)

Drop the people on the blingers and give them a snide sideways glance as you go past.

  • Ha, that's the story of every club run.. Cept the snide bit of course.

  • put a bling set of wheels on, and then do a dammit and replace each and every component.

  • Drop the people on the blingers and give them a snide sideways fart as you go past.
    .

To contribute, if you're craving a carbon jobbie and can afford it, go for it in my opinion. Nothing like wearing a new bike in for a few months to get a feel for it. I've been through steel, alloy, carbon and ti and I'd still love to have a carbon toy some days. n+1 and all that.
