  • Yeah you need a couple tools for PT cranks but it's not really a massive deal. I've saved 100s (1000s?) of pounds by going veloce over whatever the cheapest UT group is so 80 quid of park tools for the lifetime of the cranks isn't a major.

  • And still no refund from planet x.

I imagine they are a bit overwhelmed with their monster sale thing. The site crashed when it launched.

I've been trying to get in touch via email and phone and getting no response. And I'm trying to GIVE them money.

  • They'll be getting no more of mine.

  • I've been eyeing this up recently. I'm thinking of going for it but I'm not 100%. Anyone here know of any issues I might come into re BB90 or anything else.
I've heard from a few people that Trek are pretty good with fibre and I've always thought the same, but just wondering if you guys knew anything else.

I don't seem to have had any problems with the one on my giant (which I think is BB90). The one problem is the hassle of chaining the cranks if you need to. We're in quite an annoying period of BB indecisiveness.

  • Hmmm, see, I would want to change the cranks, not straight away mind but I'm sure I could find a work around when I get to that bridge. The cranks on the Shimano Groupsets nowadays are just so fugly.

  • Another BB90 frame - strikes me as great buy if you are looking for a mile muncher.

Insane Bargain? Or am I missing something?

  • All out of stock. Someone's had a bargain there if it's legit!

  • Was all in stock yesterday

  • (I didn't buy one though)

  • Ribble are selling Shimano 5701 and 6701 chains for £14 and £17 quid. Time to stock up.

  • Dunno about the 20, but the front end on the 10 is so sluggish to respond, but the back end twitches round sharp bends...

  • For £90 more you can get SRAM Apex, Aksium wheels and full carbon fork from Rose bikes.

  • How about the Equilibrium 10 as an alternative? Although terrible brakes.

    Which bike at Roses?

  • I test rode a friends Rose Xeon CRS for a 10 mile blast with some hills. It completely surpassed all my expectations. It was set up for him, so saddle too low, bars too high, wrong size etc, but despite all that I flew on it. Ordered my own about 2 days later. Should have it by the end of the month. Can't wait to get my mitts on it and try it set up for me! You can chop and change things like the bars, saddle, stem, post, even wheels etc and I was even able to choose stem length, crank length, bar width etc so a really excellent way of buying an "off the peg" but still getting lots of choice to tweak things. On the 5000 model I've gone for I could even choose from 53/39, 52/36 or 50/34 chainring options. The bikes look so much better in the flesh too.

  • Canyon Roadlite AL is £869 and you get Aksiums and choice of 105 or Apex. I haven't seen a bike with full 105 for under a grand for ages, under £900 is crazy.

    1. Cinelli Gazzetta

Surely they nearly all come in a size with a ETT from 51 to 53. Just adjust stem length to compensate.

At that size (my size) I'd be looking at the wheelbase, and angles of the seat tube and head tube. Fitting a short rider between two 700c wheels can require compromise.

Gazzetta have those 75 degree ST, meaning top tube feel more like 54cm.

Just get a Charge Plug and your problem are solved.

    This is classic too.

Shorten the top tube by steepening the seattube. Bam! short ETT. Then you get on it, sit on the back edge of your saddle and struggle to reach the bars comfortably.

  • BMC and Canyon are the only one that doesn't use this trick, any other manufacturer that managed to keep it's STA normal?

  • Specialized?

Screaming bargain. They are great little frames, mine's got me through a lot of miles already this year as a training bike. It even got me through Flanders without fuss.

Only complaint; they only have clearance for 25's, damn Germans and their excellent road surfaces!
