Call and ask if you can add the extra 100 in cash yourself.
-
• #3853
Obviously I CAN add the extra 100 in cash myself, I just don't want to if I can help it.

• #3854
call them and make them feel bad

105 or force ?

with the finance deal they have , 45 - 50 quid per month. 2 years.
what do you fellers reckon ?
the frame is available for £400 , get one and build it up myself ? or what ?
anyone got one of these mythos frames ? are they any good ?

I was tempted by this as well, finally settled for something I could take a test ride on, a CAAD 10 105 for £999 price matched at evans and 12 months 0% finance.
But if you are confident about what you want and that matches what Dolan has to offer then the OTP Sram Force seems like good value.
And secondly if you are looking in sort of 'online only' brands also think about Planet X, Ribble, Canyon, Rose etc

dolan is about 40 minutes ride from my house,
i kind of like the idea of buying from a local NW based company, of course before dropping a grand id need to have a go , think i need to pop down , have a chat and a good look at it before grabbing one.
-
• #3861
ah even better! get a test ride on the mythos (groupset dont matter) see how it feels and if you like it i'd say go for Force or 105 with Mavic Aksiums
-
• #3862
aksiums. ive had some factory built mavics. the ones for you get for about 170 quid.
sent them back before id even set them up, the hubs on those things look like theyd last 10 minutes.can see myself getting the handbuilt mach rims option. with 105 hubs, i can ask if it will cost much extra and they should be able to cope with my fat ass a bit more than those plastic looking aksiums.
-
• #3863
well if your budget allows then defo go for that
-
• #3864
Nowt wrong with Aksiums, but horses for courses and all that.

Nowt wrong with Aksiums.
+1
Not sure you'd get faster wheels for less than £300.
-
• #3866
really ? faster ? ive had a set in my hands , they* looked* like they where not made to take much abuse . light , maybe but not strong.
-
• #3867
Steel spokes, brass nips, popular for 'cross (they've got 15mm internal width) and generally regarded as bombproof.
Not light though.
-
• #3868
aksiums ? bombproof ?
-
• #3869
nah , aksium hubs are from lego.
-
• #3870
I've put about 10,000km on my pair. They get used in all weathers and on Cotswold and Welsh lanes (which can be pretty ropey).
I've not touched them and have had zero issues. I'd recommend them.
In fact I'm toying with the idea of buying a second pair for SSCX.

• #3871
how much do you weigh Miro_o?
-
• #3872
nah , aksium hubs are from lego.
Cartridge bearings at least. You'll get 20,000km from them without having to open them up. That's got to be worth something.
-
• #3873
anyway , magic capsiums aside. anyone any experience of those dolan mythos frames ? cheap chinese carbon rubbish or what ?
-
• #3874
how much do you weigh Miro_o?

pretty much everything is.
Goddamnit, Drakes Cycles were selling them for 999 before the weekend and they're now back up to 1099. Anyone know where I can pricematch to 999?
