  • What has my Ferrari got to do with this?

  • Because you didn't ride the 4-5hrs hard enough and the laziness that remained in your body fell into your legs because gravity. This laziness slows time at your leg muscles and so it feels like you're moving them faster than you actually are.

Basically, you're legs are too fat and slow for the normal physical model of the universe.

  • I tried a 20min test yesterday on the turbo. I flew a little close to the sun and exploded in a fiery death 14 minutes in. Epic quit and slump over the bars. Couldn't move for about 10 minutes, lost my appetite and felt ill for the rest of the day.

    Whoops

  • Sissy. Try harder next time!

  • Next time, to the death.

  • I could not do a 20min test on the turbo. No way.
    Fair play for trying!

  • Of course you can. You just might not hit the same numbers because heat/mentality/etc

    #weakashovis

  • I've done a fair few 20 min tests on the turbo and it's been fine. I just went out thinking I could do 10W more than my last test, and I was wrong.

  • You got most of the way through it so it's possible you can with perhaps a fresher build-up or different fueling or maybe cheating more on the flushing efforts at the start :P

  • Ugh. Spent last night and this morning mentally and physically steeling myself for a long ride today. Can't face it now. Tired.
    Arrggh much frustration

  • I'm going through the same thing. Think I'll just turbo later.

  • Or just play computer games all day

  • I tend to find an absence of enthusiasm / determination means a rest day required. I made myself train yesterday and had a shit one, so think i need to just suck it up and sit on my ass today.

    Boring.

  • I think the colour of the sky and the wetness of the ground also has a major part to play.

  • Always best to listen to your body I find. If it's tired, it'll tell you and good recovery = faster

On the flip side, I'm gagging to train. Have had a very light couple of weeks due to a niggle and heavy work load. Saw my physio last night and was given the all clear, so time to get back to work.

    Michele?

  • Yep, ended up chilling. Pleased i did it but always get a bit frustrated when i torture myself and look on everyone's rides on strava now!

  • FFS- ill again.

This is about the 6th time since September. Never had so many colds/flu in my life.

I'm eating and sleeping better than I ever have, keeping relatively fit, but my winter has basically been a month or so health, then getting a cold or a flu, then repeat.

    So fucking frustrating.

  • Bad stomach yesterday and probably didn't eat enough before and after a 100k ride.

Went to get on the turbo today, and whilst i could spin away relatively happy in an easy gear, the minute i tried to start pushing something heavier I had ZERO strength in the legs. Felt like I could barely hold threshold for over a minute, it felt insanely ridiculously hard. WTF?! Surely not a consequence of one day underfuelling?

Needless to say, I've spent the rest of the day on my ass.

Err, yes. Your glycogen stores will have been severely depleted by a 100 km ride, and if you've got a bad stomach then your digestive system won't have replenished them.

  • Ha yeh guess so.

I still ate reasonably yesterday and most of it stayed where it should have. I've felt fine in myself today and able to concentrate etc, but my legs literally couldn't push the pedals hard enough to hit threshold for anything over than about 2 mins.

Well, have eaten well today and not done anything (apart from 20mins of aborted training), so hopefully it's back to business as usual tomorrow.

  • My RHR dropped 10 beats suddenly.

Turns out a weekend in Amsterdam isn't good for one's immune system.

Next time you'll know better and stay for the whole week.
