  • I'm failing miserably at this... too much good food around (and even bad food like choc digestives... mmm). Think I'll have to sit down and plan some meals to try and get back to health.

Will post starting weight/fat later today

  • 1000 is barely enough to cover basic organ functions.

  • +1
Even when I was 100% laid up and sedentary my body needed 1000-1200 calories and I am a petite female.

For me to lose weight I have to concentrate on 1200 calories sedentary or 1500 if I am active and keep the fat grams at about 30g a day.

1000-1200 is about what I aim for on an average day, though I frequently fall short of that. When I'm in an alcohol free phase I find it nigh on impossible to hit.

People would actually shout at me if they knew my calorie intake on a rest day.

  • Yeah I have the same issue..

  • Don't worry Hippy, you still have the hill climbing trophy.

  • I've actually found this thread to be very interesting.

  • This is true. Shit they'll want that back soon..

  • trying to combine weight loss and giving up the ciggies is proving hard, as they are appitite depressive and i find myself looking at the fridge and snacking to fill the gap....must try harder.

    Amphetamines.

  • I'm back to 112kgs. Go me!

  • I remain at 76kgs.
if i can get to 70 before uni, I'll be happy.

  • How long you got?

  • a month.
    should be doable...
my weight has fluctuated more than that in a month.
My BMI is a healthy (just) 24.5 given my height of 5'10 (well technically 176cm)
though as said before, BMI is bollocks.

  • Amphetamines.

the great hope for me...off to rob a Chemist for some blueys.

  • 11.6lbs off as of today, slow progress since I was starting from 'normal' anyway, but nearly there

  • a month.

Hmm I'm 84 and wanted to get to 76... same height... isn't 70 a bit overly thin ?

  • I doubt I'll look it-
judging from photos I have of me at 70kgs.
I've been down to 62, and that was thin- rowing does horrible things to a man.
in fact I wouldn't be surprised if by christmas I'm at the 65kg or below stage again....
my training partner has just signed herself up for a 70.3, which means- I'll be doing one next year, along with the pre planned marathon.

  • What are peoples opinions on cod liver oil?

My knee's make a ton of noise and ache quite a lot, I'm only 21 too which is worrying. Not really the right thread but I guess most of you are supplementing...

  • stretch dude. stretch properly.
you should hear my shoulder, and i'm 2 years ahead of you, I can freak people out in cafes!
i'm supposed to be trying fish oil to sort out my energy issues.
not convinced its anything but snake oil.

i think a proper stretching session will sort you out better than supplements.
and no, i don't tend to take any supplements.

  • cod liver oil with glycerin, i take them for my knee help a bit but as soperR says a good flex and stretch works wonders, have a look at knee excersises, may be look at some physio to diagnose properly, i went to the london school for a few sessions they were good and gave good advice.

  • also a good sports massage can be well worth it.
needs to be someone who knows what they are doing though.

  • Sound, ta. Worried about my shoulders too actually now that you mention yours, dislocated it a few times in the last couple of years and it seems really week now.

Thinking about it, it probably is time to go to a physio before it gets any worse. Had a deep tissue massage before, agony!
