  • For focus, i've put an inspirational photo up on the back of my door.

  • I've just had my first beer in a week. Oh man, so delicious!

  • 77.1 this morning, the pizza and chocolate diet is paying dividends

  • I am exactly the same weight as when I first entered this game, but am an inch thinner. Come on, muscle, do your worst!
    \

  • I have kicked this all off with lots of booze, ridiculous amounts of crap food but also training loads.

The training isn't enough to offset my gluttony unfortunately.

  • Also updated, was at 76 ish all last week but had a crap weekend.

I also think I've put on muscle in the last week, no proof of that at the moment... Might have to take some measurements.

  • I have been about 84kgs for about 3 or 4 years now (im 6'2 so not exactly fat) but decided that my climbing needed something extra(or less). In the last month I have dropped to 80.1kg by adding an extra 100k a week on the bike (from about 190k to about 290k) with some intense sessions with about 150 of that at the weekend wich puts paid to heavy nights).

BUT, I think the main thing is brewing home brewed beer. Instead of three cans of shop bought beer per night (with more at the weekend) I have been drinking 1 or 2 glasses of delicious home brewed beer. Brew your own beer and loose weight. Now its coming off my aim is for 76kgs (my decided upon race weight)

  • I was low 77's all last week, weigh in this morning- 78.2.

  • Yay, I've put on a whole kilo!

    Wait a minute......

  • It'll even out over time, best to be consistent with weighing in days dammit!

But I do feel your pain!

Going to the lake district this weekend with 3 of the fittest people I know, I will keep up and I will not drink.

Need to take it a bit easier on the exercise this week as I was too exhausted to do anything this weekend, which probably explains the spike in weight conmpared to last weeks average.

Run 5k today and swim training tonight and 10 mile tt on thursday will be all this week apart from my daily pootle from paddington to holborn...

This weekend will probably include a lake swim on firday afternoon, 80 miles on the bike on saturday, hilly half marathon on sunday morning with a hike on monday.

If I'm not 76kg by next week then I'll be really pissed off!

  • I hate Monday weigh-ins as usually the weekend is spent eating and drinking with little to no exercise. I prefer to weigh myself on Friday.

  • Marginal loss, but being total honest with myself, I snacked a lot at lunchtime last week, Thursday was a write-off (TWO birthday meals, no exercise), and the weekend was all lasagne, curry, cookies and toast.

    This week: HARDCORE MODE

  • It'll even out over time

Yeah.. I've not really put in any effort yet and I've got the Epping Forest rides coming up, so that should shift some fat.

Today is my last weigh in for a month, as I'll be away from home and I'd prefer to keep using the same set of scales for consistency.

  • Not a bad week but could have been better if I hadn't gone round my mum's house for a Soul Food Session yesterday.

  • 0.1kg added! But as mentioned last week, 1 inch of Size has vanished so the weight is probably muscle. #gameface

  • I'm not going to weigh myself again until Weds to keep it on a weekly thing.

What do people think though about weighing yourself on a daily basis and working it out over the week on a average type approach?

I'm not sure how helpful/healthy it is to weigh yourself on a daily basis if you have a tendency to obsess over the scales...

  • I have let things go, and need to get back on it watching what i eat cutting down on the booze, going to start doing the WjPrince circuit thing (cheers for posting that ) - and get on my bike more.starting weight 96 k
    height 6ft**.

  • ^^ I've personally found the moving average of daily measurements to be really useful. It's only an obsession if you let it become one - if you're just weighing yourself every day and considering it as long-term monitoring, it really doesn't matter. If you do it every day then you're maybe less likely to freak out when you weigh yourself once a week and suddenly you've put on an entire kg as you should be able to recognise it as a normal, everyday fluctuation.

I don't get the measuring tape out daily, ain't nobody got time for that. But weight I've checked every day for years just out of habit alone. My ability to disregard what it says immediately afterwards is how I got into my current mess :-)

  • It's only an obsession if you let it become one you're a scale obsessed weirdo like Dammit.

  • We all know Dammit is beyond all help and advice.

I've been weighing myself on a daily basis, I figured it's better to start off doing it so that even on mornings when I know I've been pigging out the day before I won't have an excuse. Or something.

On thursday morning I was 66.8kg, but after a weekend of pizza, beer, SO MUCH CHEESE, wine, biscuits and an amazing banana and toffee muffin (and god knows what else) I'm now 68.5kg. So 1kg down on last week, 2kg up on midweek.

Back on it today - and by 'it' I mean corn cakes and salad. Mmmm.

  • When I was in serious weight loss mode, I was weighing myself constantly. Maybe 12 times per day. Just more data, innit? Did me no harm, got to target weight, then it dropped to checking once a day and once I was happy that my diet/exercise was in balance and my weight was stable it dropped to checking weekly and then monthly. I've just had a really heavy month of pigging out, entertaining etc combined with a lot less miles on the bike and put on a stone. Started back with the daily/multiple weigh-ins as I'm dropping back to race weight. Helps keep me focussed, as well as track hydration.

Dammit, give sanddancer his password back.
