what's this study you're doing eyebrows, sounds interesting.
Its a study to see the effects of L-carnitine on weight loss and muscle gain (efficiency gain).
So randomised trial- 30% on ctrl, 30% on carbohydrate, and 30% on L-carnitine and carbohydrate.Basically- a VO2 max baseline is established over 2 sessions on the bike and mask.
Then you go in for a session at 90% VO2 max level of work for 5 mins or so, and at the beginning (ie before you get on the bike) and at the end and again at about 5 mins later you get a muscle biopsy- which hurts. Then those are examined for lactate build up, etc. Then you go in for a DEXA body scan- body fat/ composition. Then the training can start.
3 sessions/ week 70-80% VO2 max, for 30 mins- 1hr.
Each day you drink your drink 2ce and at the end- you have 2 more VO2 max tests, another biopsy session and another DEXA body scan. And then you get paid. Which is a win!
And though you're not allowed to do external cardio- the occasional bike ride/ run/ swim is fine, as is gym work and pilates/ yoga.

They'll be alright. No worse than a tattoo apparently.
Easy money and free fitness for me. Its a double win.

will be interested to see the results of your experience.

Make sure you take it with roughly 300 calories of carbohydrate each time.
Otherwise- less effective. -

So still at 77.5kg which seems to be my weight for the week.
Just under 4kg to my target weight, with no rush to reach it but would be nice by Christmas as I plan to do this run there and back on new years eve.

Just stepped on the scales after my post-turbo bath.
Bang on 75kg.

75.9kg today.
2.9kg to go.

• #2035
how the fuck have you managed to do that?
I've got to get my life sorted out.
76kgs this morning at the gym....I'm rearranging my training schedule to try and get a bit better weight loss.

I've run 32 miles this week!
I've been to the gym 4 times
If I'm honest I've over done it this week, my sleep has suffered which is always a sign I'm over training, but will step back slightly this week to allow recovery.
Probably the strangest thing is my running speed has been really consistent throughout the week, sticking at around the 8.30 when in my head its a slow run.
unfortunately thats not quick enough for my target marathon time but i've still got time/ and a plan to work on speed between now and then.

Maybe he's knocked the Sainsbury's shopping binges on the head.

I was running / riding there in Summer.
Why not throw in a quick jog up Church Hill for a bit of fun?
[Edit]
I just realised I may be in the area at the same time.
I think there are enough hills on the route I ran!
Give me a shout if you're down there, i'll be down there from the 27th dec to 2nd Jan.
Church hill will be tackled for some hill reps another day.

75 kgs dead this morning.
Brilliant- it turns out my running shoes and kit weighs 2kg.
got on the scale in boxers and boom 2kg gone. -
• #2041
Not the effect of your trial then?
-
• #2042
the trial official hasn't started yet- I'm going through the testing stages.
Still to do:
repeat VO2 max
Muscle Biopsy (x3).Then it begins!!!!
(December)I suspect its the running 20 odd miles a week and gym work for 1hr a day during the week.

hanging around the 76kg mark this week so far, now have got a cold so i really shouldn't be exercising, but i have 2 more runs i want to do... will see how i feel after a rest tonight.
happily bumbling along the way to my target weight at a really good pace so i think i just need to be patient and wait for the cold to pass.

ta!
Doesn't really sound illogical at all. I'd much rather have 2 bikes or even 1 which I ride all the time rather than 6 of which 4 I hardly use.
