EFA's from meat? not much to speak of. Fish yes..Salmon, Mackeral etc....walnuts, pumkin, Sunflower seeds, Flax.
Olive oil no, it's full of Phytochemicals but no EFA's.
Why Supplements? Whats wrong with eating real food? After all, we have done for quite a few years now.
will get some seed & nut mix on the go, and get smoked salmon back on the menu.
supplements = convenience.

Hmmm,
kilo of body fat = 7700 calories
so 18kg lost = 139000 calories burned
which in c. 35 days represents a calorie deficit of 4000 calories a day.which is shall we say, unlikely??
Well, double checking my diary, I was 90kg on the 12th of June.
June 17th - 85.4kg.
june 21st - 82kg.
June 28th - 79.7kg.
After a 611km 3 days tour, I went straight to 85kg, full fuel from the ride naturally.
July 15th - 78.1kg.
July 21th - 76.5kg.
July 24th - 75kg.
July 31st - 73.9kg.
August 1st - 72.6kg.
As of right now, 73kg;

Guys, the most variation that could be caused by hydration and bowel movements (or lack of it) is a kilo or so. If you're measuring regularly, that's the variation you would see if your weight were actually stable. So either you have to accept the figures he's giving there or question either the reliability of his scales or (as seems to have been implied) his honesty.
Whether or not it's possible to lose that much weight in that amount of time without being trapped in the mountains with no food and cutting your arm off to escape, it's a very unhealthy rate of weight loss. If I were you, Ed, I'd be going for a medical check-up right now.

it is an unhealthy amount of weight loss, and I'm aware of it don't worry.
-

I still can't believe you can lose that much weight - eat fuck all and cycle everywhere as you do Ed. Not that I don't believe you just can't believe you haven't passed out or seriously bonked.
Yesterday for me I took in 1451 calories and that was with cycling to and from work and over a 10 mile ride in the evening.
I'd like to keep myself around the 1500 mark daily if I can this should be enough for weight loss but also to keep me going for cycling and weight exercises.

20lbs in 24 hours...hows that for you?
How?
In other boring news, yesterday (my first recording day)
I ended up being over:
Calories +195
Carbs +26
Fat +27
Protein -2 (which strikes me a a negative rather than a positive)My daily goal is mean to be 1,290cal
On the plus side I road around 30miles, most of it in one go to and round regents park, plus walked for about 40mins last night.
Also re the supplement thing. I've always been against them, but marketing and a corporate discount has made me purchase this stuff:

Re - Ed's weight
Not that I know anything about this, but I'd just have a couple of steaks and a load of fruit and veg. I'm sure that will sort you out.

I was tempted by the promax stuff myself but when you come off that stuff you'll find it hard to adjust.
Also if you want to lose weight It's all about life style changes there is no 'magic cure' as is always said.If your going to buy that your better off going to my protein buying a tub of protein and green tea extract separate, I'd imagine it would work out cheaper in the long run?

Regarding this, what I notice is that despite being told we need to eat around 2500 calories everyday to have a good amount.
But I realised that it's more about eating the calories we burn (as stated several time), a lots of people barely managed to burn enough calories nowadays to even need the required amount.
take the car, have food delivered, text your friends, sit down on your desk and be productive, etc,
Is the 2500 recommended amount is still valid nowadays?
-
• #1517
Yeah, I can imagine. The thing is I'm not 100% convinced, so I'm going to give it a try for a bit.
As for cost, I get 33% off... but unfortunately that's not ontop of their other deals. If it's something I'm going to continue with then I'll readdress the cost/cheapest way.
My only reasoning behind that one, was that it's for toning, and I can bulk very easily.

Your body still needs to function Ed so you'd need more calories in than your burning at any given day.
For example my daily allowance is - 1330 basic with no exercise just for purely weight loss.
Now when I introduce cycling to work and back and either weight training or a cycle in the evening this then ups my daily allowance to 2078 because of the exercise.
Yesterday for example I only had 1500 calories on top of the exercise which meant I was really under my daily total.
I'd really try given myfitness pro a go mate.

Mine is 2083
Which at 6 ft 1 and 181 pounds I'd need to eat 2083 calories a day to stay that weight.

How heavy are you and how tall? 1500 is 1000 calories under the recommended daily intake for the average (i.e. not only average height and build but also not very active) adult male. Unless you are quite short, 1500 calories possibly represents a 1000 calorie deficit, even before you consider the cycling (my daily commute burns around 900 calories).
-
• #1522
I'm 6ft 1 and a half, currently weight 12 stone 9
As you can see above my daily recommend calories is 2083, which is already 500 short of the 2500 now if I want to lose weight and tone up which I do then I'll need to lose more in this case I'm sticking to around 1500 a day - creating more than a 500 cal deficit isn't really recommended at all.
Edit -
My commute is 3.5 miles to and from work. This is done around 12mph including stopping at lights, this works out at 267 calories burnt commuting every day.

What is a cheat meal? Like a meal off? Pizza or something?
-
• #1525
Yup, or anything else you fancy. Having a high calorie day when dieting stops your body thinking its starving and slowing your metabolism down to survive. I have a cheat day once a week, had over 6000kcal yesterday :-) Pizza and Cornetto Enigmas ftw!
More dullness:
I've not done any exercise to speak of today, except walking about 4 miles, but did a fast 50 miles late last night.
Weight's pretty stable having bulked up with weight training/eating 18 months ago, but then decided to let it gradually fall off again. Appetite is a bit fucked due to lingering virus (bronchial).
