  • Kettlebells are good for gaining muscle and losing fat they may be right up your street :)
Bodypump works for that too, and yes some men do go to those classes (if you have a gym and they have bodypump)

But it may be worth getting your shoulder looked at, it shouldn't hurt...

It's usually better to go for your own performance goal anyway, or a health goal. Not the sixpack. Getting one may mean you're pissweak for example and then what... it won't suddenly rain modelling contracts either :p

    I guess you're already on: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/171238/?offset=1725#comment13170581 ?

As I'm not an expert on cycle performance (weight lifting foremost..)

I find now that I eat "clean" most of the time most junk foods just aren't as nice as I recall. But of course every so often some are eaten. Pizza and M&S chocolate minis (hmmmmm)

  • Thanks for gym advice...but that's not really me....classes/group activity...nah !! Bodypump?
Shoulder prob was just simple muscle pull....no big deal, like most thing's I do, I'm all or nothing, I just need to be more sensible.
    haha..I can guarantee my six-pack aspirations are....zero.
Sure I read that group and the TT stuff, but those lads are hard-core, how does anyone do sub 20/sub 50 10/25's, yeah...in my dreams!!
Yes good pizza always does it for me too.

  • All or nothing is a good way to get injured if you don't build up to it :p

Well I guess they found a way...and if the jokes are true hippy has no sixpack either so being a light weight is no prereq. Who knows, perhaps there's some sound advice? The all of nothing attitude coupled with good training may just get you there :)

    (I don't even know what sub 20/sub 50 10/25's means) :):)

  • Sub 20min 10mile TT / Sub 50min 25mile TT. Basically >30mph average!

  • Hah, I am happy if I reach 26mph on the flat road to work and that's about a mile and a half long :):)

  • That's outstanding. Well done!

  • I've had no dairy/eggs in a month, lost 2kg.

  • Just started fasted commuting today. Espresso. 9km ride. Protein shake, fruit and cereal at work. Felt a bit headachey today.
Any tips? Hoping to assist in shifting a few KG. Currently 72, aiming for 68.

  • I commute about 16km then have cereal when I get in - i've not had headaches though. Do you drink any water before or on your way in? Could be something as simple as dehydration.

  • Drink more water. Also electrolyte.

  • I've always done a fasted commute, mainly due to wanting that extra 15 minutes in bed. Only time it feels a bit unpleasant is if I'm thirsty so plenty of water before I go and sometimes I still take a water bottle even though it's only 10km.

  • Thanks 7VEN, yes quite pleased myself...as I just about crept under 12st, which almost certainly is the first time this century.

  • I linger around this thread as always trying to lose a little bit but my few kg's never make for particularly dramatic reportage. But this is just awesome. I measure weight-loss in terms of cats. I have one 5kg chunker called Mathilda. 30 kg loss is like removing 6 Mathilda's from your body. That's incredible. Chapeau.

  • What intensity? Drink water, and maybe skip the coffee? Not sure it helps.

  • Right, when this sinus infection has finally fucked the fuck off I'm back on the weight loss plan.

Just under 90kg again right now, want to be 76kg for spring marathon. Got down to 83kg last year (and enjoyed watching the running times drop and cycling W/kg increase) before slowly putting it all back on again.

28 weeks until Brighton marathon (if I don't get a London place in the ballot). 14kg to lose. 0.5kg/week requires determination and not scrimping on the training plan but I've done it in the past. Wednesday is weigh day, new spreadsheet coming...

  • I've completely stalled since the summer and especially since starting marathon training. All I seem to be doing is replacing the calories I'm losing through training. Might have to start again after the race is done.

    Is your body shape changing?

I didn't lose much when I really started upping my running (to prepare for debug marathon) but I looked considerably slimmer as fat was being replaced by denser muscle.

After a plateau the weight started to drop again.

  • Can't really tell. Body analyser scales say no significant change in body fat or muscle mass during that period either.

  • Hi fatties, I've been out of here for 4 months. Result: I lost about 4kg over time and in a week I've put it all back on so I'm 3kg heavier than I was pre-TCR but on the plus side I've been drunk for most of it yay! On the piss tonight then I'm going to focus on getting 'sick gun bro' leaner again while I'm not riding so much so I look well sexy for Oz xmas. Thinking about kicking off my gym sessions again because I can't be arsed riding but I'm putting off making that call. I'll just help myself to these Toblerones while I ponder it....

  • You not having a few drinks on Friday?

  • Sadly have to miss it, family drinks thing instead. Boo.

Will buy a copy of Rich's book from him at Parkrun instead.
