one fucking day.....
managed to eat well for one day - felt very smug, then someone bought in a home made chocolate hedgehog cake, already had two slices and there is one left next to me...

Meh. Three days of lates at the hospital, a perfect excuse for the free cake provided by one of our clinical educators....plus just had a pasteis de nata, because if I see one, I must eat it.
Pre dinner total for today: 2500. Doing it right.@hats yep. Like last week, but I can't remember where or I'd buy some and send them over to you. I'm sure it's on my way home from work, but I'm usually in a miserable mood, so rarely stop anywhere.

The online banter persona bullshit aside, the recipes in The Body Coach book are ace for quickly cooking in batches to take to work for lunch or make up for breakfast. Everything based on stuff you can buy in Sainsburys.

as usual i piled on a few (10) lbs over xmas period
back to a more usual diet and doing 3 or 4 hours of turbo a week on top of the usual commute and yoga.
weight has remained totally fucking static for the month of January, am only hoping that as I am feeling fitter some kind of alchemy is occurring and fat is transmogrifying into muscle or it looks like I will have to add in some 5:2 starving days too.
5:2 did help me lose weight last year, but felt much weaker on the bike. was hoping this year to do turbo sessions to get stronger and more consistently burn calories and avoid the twice weekly starving.

wow, that's impressive. Am thinking if I get down to the 90s where I've been before and stalled, got complacent and shot back up, what would I need to get into the 80s. Good to see you showing how it's done (with kebabs)

It took large amount of willpower to say no to going to the pub last night. I had planned to have a salmon steak and salad when i got home but my local place was closed for renovation so it was over to the kebab shop for chicken doner. I also bought beer and cider but didn't drink it. Again, much want kicked in the face. I hate losing weight. Funless dreary shite fuckery.

The great thing about losing weight is the fun you have piling it all back on again.
Was down to 83kg last year, back up to 90kg and now on my way down again (86.5kg).
The build up of running is certainly helping but fuck do I feel broken for the vast majority of the week.

I've spent a year now between 92kg and 85kg - but for 10.5 months of that time between 85kg and 88kg (which is 3/4% variance?). I guess one of the key things for me is once you get to a weight you like try and stay there and realise when you've moved the dial too much. I do that by weighing myself each time I leave the gym as a habit.
I'd say get to a fixed point say 92kg try to just maintain that weight for 3-4 months till basically becomes your norm and then try to consciously lose weight again.

92kg for me is the tipping point between being obese and overweight according to BMI, so it's what I was primarily aiming for. Don't ever think I've been overweight in the adult life.
76kg and below is supposed to be healthy weight for me, a pipe dream (literally would have to start smoking crack pipes to attain)

I disagree (the fact that its hard).
My experience was from 88kg to 63-65kg now. It was piss easy. Give up bad stuff , consume less food and ride more. You just have to be very strong mentally. My motivation was to be a good climber.

srsly though, its not hard. I've been between 63-65kg now for couple of years now which is 22 on BMI calculator. I was always the fat kid in school/family etc.
You just have to be a stubborn arsehole .. to you.
The biggest challenge is not to lose power while losing weight which makes it a slow progress.
-
• #10241
Well get to 92kg and then try to stay there for x amount of time.
Once you've maintained that aim to get down to 85kg see how you feel when you get to that weight.
I also wouldn't get too caught up on BMI

It's not hard now but I bet if I'd have posted that to you when you were 88kg your reaction would've been the same.
I picture my weight as a mountain and that I always want to maintain a basecamp near the summit. If I let it slide too much and the climb becomes harder, that is de-motivating.
pure leadership theory waffle

You just have to be very strong mentally
I think I fall into the mentally strong category when it comes to racing bikes but it's a different story when it comes to dieting. Just because some people find it easy to reduce their food intake doesn't mean we all do.

User error: Australian.
Tbh I wonder what you do in this thread? Arent you in perfect shape for your purpose? (like most people who post here).
-
• #10245
No. I'm planning to race TransAm which is, um, slightly lumpy.
Less weight = faster. Simples.
-
• #10246
Yep for that purpose I agree.
I struggle to imagine its fat though .. if you plateau at 89kg but still have the same power its not bad obviously not as good as being 80kg and same power but then again murky waters.

If my scales are to be believed and I'm around 15% body fat then there's 10% fat I could lose before I hit overweight pro levels. 13.5kg -> 4.5kg fat = 9kg of dead weight into the atmosphere. I'm carrying an entire bike around just to keep me warm. My mid-season race weight when not dieting is ~86kg. I dieted once before and got to 84kg so I've got a way to go anyway.
Anyway wtf, you're 65kg? Why are you lecturing a 90kg guy about weight loss?
-
• #10248
ha! I was 90-ish though ;)
All I am saying is if hitting a weight target is a concern it can easily be done.

And I am countering with 'it might've been easy for you, it's not easy for everyone'. If it was, we'd all be skinny fuckers.
