No, but the shoulder blades are less painful than before.
Now it's the neck and the other shoulder -

I wanted to ask, especially of Buddah Fingaz cos his fracture was distal as well, what sort of pain you had with your clavicles?
The actual break site itself has virtually no pain at all, but the middle of my back between the shoulder blades is tense as all hell, and I get a lot of pain just under the shoulder blades in the middle of my back. I wonder if this is anything to do with the break or a different injury.
I was about to put my Rapha softshell in the wash when I noticed that it had a hole in the elbow. So that's what I landed on to break my fucking shoulder! I had no idea. No pain to my elbow, no injury, grazes or anything.
Hello! Sorry I didn't see this earlier, feel free to PM me too.
What kind of support are you wearing (if any)? If its one of those figure of eight harnesses this is known to cause pain in the back due to the strain it places on the muscles keeping everything upright. It may be that if you're wearing a sling it's putting a lot of strain on the muscles in your neck and back too. I wore a sling and I certainly remember a lot of general aches and pains (especially during and after sleep), but don't recall a specific pain in the middle of my back.
You have probably been advised of this already but distal fractures are the most difficult to heal - so keeping the arm immobile in a sling as much as possible, together with good diet etc etc, is quite important. I also took things like extra calcium, but its debatable whether that's really necessary.

I'll have words with anyone crass enough to make further enquiries as to your little sister's flexibility in other areas.
I will.

I've got my next fracture clinic appointment tomorrow morning.
Here's hoping it's healing and I can ride my bike again.I gave up on wearing a sling in the end as it gave me more pain than not wearing one. I've just been quite sedentary (Portal 2 helped) and have been juicing green things and eating/drinking lots of dairy.
For the last couple of days there has been no pain from my shoulder whatsoever. I am cautiously optimistic.

It would appear I am all healed up now. Didn't even need a new x-ray. Full movement and no pain.
Go go go diet of cheese, milkshakes and spinach. (not all at once) -

That was quick. Nice one, Niall. Don't overdo it just yet, though. Are you quite sure that you can already lift a whole pint? ;)

I do believe that milestone was passed weeks ago

Ten minutes after the crash, probably.

I guess this is the official collarbone thread!
Came off a few days ago, fractured my wrist and broke my left clavicle in two places (turns out i had a previous fracture from February, that my walk-in clinic failed to notice) so it now resembles this
'--/ \ ---' (imagination required).
Scanned the thread but didn't notice anything on 'bone grafts' which was the surgeons first suggestion, anyone have any experience with that?
They'll obv. lay out all the options at my next appointment, though I'm wondering if i should go for the simple 'let it fuse in a fucked up shape' or bring out bob the builder's kit and get all stitched up.I seem to get the impression that people who didn't have surgery still suffer minor pains a few years on?
thanks

My shattered humerus is now almost completely healed. Looked like this on november 4th:
And looks like this now:
Now I just need to build some muscle. The surgeon was quite impressed with his work and my rehab, so he had to get a colleague and show off...

Yeah they should be able to fax your referral across. I know for sure the fracture clinic at the Royal free Hampstead takes referrals from GP's.

rear ended on seven sisters rd tuesday evening, not sure how I ended up banging my shoulder but I do remember my head hitting the deck, helmet was binned at the hospital by staff I assume, but the paramedic said it wouldn't be of use again. Regarding collar bone he speculated that my shoulder took the brunt and the shockwave ended up in a break in the middle of the clavicle. From reading this thread, looks like it's the best place to be. police got all the drivers details (I have them) but not sure if anyone witnessed it, although at least 2 people were very helpful. Unfortunately i didn't get their names as the pain was starting to kick in. I've read the other threads, and I do have case number and policemans name - anything else, do i need a solicitor to handle it?

Ouch, bad luck.
Been to hospital, got the police case number, sounds like you've done pretty much everything right so far. Someone with better knowledge will be along soon.
Heal up soon.

Clavicle problems are the bane of my life. Constant pain in my arse (well, shoulder, obviously!) Complete sympathy for those with collision related injuries. I have acromioclavicular joint damage in my left shoulder and a right shoulder apparently heading the same direction, although this is somewhat self-inflicted through American football rather than cycling - I've fortunately managed to avoid any cycling incidents so my x-rays look a lot less traumatic than those in the thread. It's good to see so much advice being passed around on how to properly take care of it though.
Best of luck with the healing, West Green.

thanks all, will report on what physio offered by Whittington, but at least I have an appointment for 1 week from now, so it looks like everything is in hand. Drs app not so easy to get,but I'm also trying not to use the strap whilst at home and going easy on the painkillers as pain seems to be bearable unless I attempt any sudden movements. If I'm lucky might be back on the bike in 4 weeks, not looking forward to london underground

WG, since you'll need to take the tube, get a book, any book, they'll make the journey filed as well as being able to sit down and read something.

Funny you should say that, I'm reading Breaking the Chain, Willy Voet. The update is, collar bone broken in 3 places, was getting worse, but much better sling (as opposed to the temporary pink foam jobbie I was given on the night of the hit) will help to stop more displacement. 2 x searches for CCTV footage with council and TFL, Tescos came up with a malfunctioning CCTV - after chasing for 2 weeks, convenient! Solicitor on the case, and police report form filled, signed and sent. Lets see what happens?

just be thankful you're not the bloke who was on holloway road earlier...
Have you found any answers yet?
