  • Nice bike, should've taken the brakes off and scratched it up a bit to make it less attractive to thieves. Hindsight's a bitch.

Ashe, I 'believe' this ^ is the type of faintly well meaning but ultimately useless (in terms of practicality rather than emotional support, and even that's questionable at best) posts that damo was referring to. I don't believe he was saying 'don't post about how your bike was locked up' rather trying to discourage lame comments generally. Perhaps I'm wrong. It's been known.

I hope you two are able to hug in a manly way and make up. I also hope stolen Dolan gets his bike back.

    Peas.

  • Ashe gash.

    :D

  • Joel, the thing is that I don't think I have ever behaved that way. The finger was being pointed at the wrong guy.

  • come on guys, this is not about you... it's about advice and some sympathy for the stolen dolan.

    list!!!!

    1. get down to brick lane on sunday with proof of ownership (stolen bikes trade is on the up recently).
    2. report it with frame number etc.
      3.

ashe, can i call you ashe lovey?

i wasn't pointing the finger at you.
    i was saying
"don't bite when someone says "should have used that lock"

    or
    "shit paintjob"

    or
    "can it bar spin"

these threads always contain that. have you not noticed? there's always someone who says that.

and that isn't an underhanded way of saying "you say that".

    2. report it with frame number etc.
    3. buy a new one

    3. ignore Nanny.
      4.

    Fixed.

I'll keep an eye out S to SE and sling a lock on it if I spot it.

  • I'm interested in how SomeoneStoleMyBaby became acquainted with this forum.

Does she/he have friends on here? Likes singlespeed/fixed-gear cycling?

I'm thinking the name of the forumenger and the theft of the bike, might be by chance, connected?

  • ^ Would that be a problem?

  • And if so, why?

  • They should be concentrating on finding their baby, not their bike, FFS.

  • What if they don't really want to find their bike(/baby) and this is just some insurance cover-up? How would that make those of you trying to help feel then, eh?

  • Too late, the dingo took it

all of the above is irrelevant, unfair and unhelpful, i mean why put your number in the thread, post it twice and twitter it if you're insinuating this is all suspect. i hope i've misunderstood what you meant.

    sorry if i missed something

I suppose you think the OP murdered their own bike?

  • Yeah, I'm with Gaggle on this

  • ha

  • Marlon, a while back, a rich Hoxtonite came on here, as his bike had been stolen. He solely came onto this forum to find his bike. He had no interest in us, or what we do or anything. He didn't get his bike back, and that was the end of his involvement with this forum. Someone had asked how his bike had been secured, and he never responded.

I noticed that he was on the thread for a few days, but still never answered. I'm not saying its a made-up theft. I believe the bike was stolen. But, what happens eventually? Everyone hears that the biggest and most involved bike forum is us, so soon we have everyone joing for 3-4 days, to find their bikes.

    That was my point.

We'll soon number into the 100,000s, and only 10,000 would be genuinely interested in ss/fg biking.

  • I'll maul their babies. That'll fix 'em.

Insurance job though, bit far fetched no? Where did that come from?

Would they put their number in the thread if that was the case?

You make the forum sound like some sort of gated community.

  • christ alive.
if you lost a fixed bike in london, wouldn't you look on the biggest concentration of fixed bicycle owners in london and who use a computer?

if we operated a "must have this many useful relevant posts" we'd be fucked.

    edit:
    fucking bmmf got there first.

Ashe, I've seen you repeat this story a few times, and the moral of it escapes me.

The Hoxton Hipster has his bike stolen, but it was ok because they lied about how it was locked?

  • I'm surprised you don't get my point Neil.

    We are being used.

We are all cyclists, that care about other cyclists. We don't show predjudice for a rider down, being on a fg bike, or a 30spd bike. We care about cyclists.

But non-fg/ss people are coming on here, not to share anything about cycling, but simply to their own ends.
