  • Spain is fantastic for food. Not just the flash places.

Arzak is highly recommended. Akellare, too. Both in San Seb (one just outside)

  • Migas, pauper food of yesteryear. Great with all cuts of meat and also very nice as a vegetarian dish. Pain in the ass to make though. There's so much good food all over Spain it's not even funny. It's perhaps even more varied than Italian and together, for me at least, beat any European cuisine.

  • But we have to say that.

Otherwise our dangly bits get chopped off.

I'm looking at Arzak and also Mugaritz (reservation pending) as well... Can only realistically do 2 uber posh meals in 5 nights there

  • Any experience of the Hand and Flowers?

I've just suggested to the other half she take me there for my birthday

    One page back https://www.lfgss.com/post2694280-706.html

I thought it was excellent and relaxed with impeccable service, difficult balance

  • Cheers, I thought I'd read something about it here. It's fully booked for my birthday anyways... boo

  • Confirmed Mugaritz reservation in San Sebastian now as well... that'll do nicely

  • We need pictures as and when they happen.

Can do... it's in July.. I still have pic from Quilon to write up but I've been way too busy to do that lately

  • Bocca di Lupo for lunch

Radish, celeriac, pomegranate, pecorino salad with truffle dressing

    Octopus, celery and caper salad

sweet and sour new season's pink onions with smoked & salted anchovies

Broad bean salad with sheep's ricotta, rocket, lemon zest & mint

Fried courgette flowers with mozzarella & anchovy

Veal tongue, cotechino, peara (bread and bone marrow polenta), candied mostarda & salsa verde

    Whole John Dory

Pork chop marinated in honey & rosemary

Skewer of lamb's sweetbreads & artichokes

summer peas with basil & spring onions

Fazzoletti with broad beans, basil & pecorino

    Im a bit full now

  • As a result of that you won't be able to swing your pin over the Goldsprint.

Cash and a dutch bike PX work for you?

  • I have yet to try John Dory, which will interest nobody but myself.

  • I suspect even you aren't that interested... ;-)

  • I've just arrived at The Inn at Whitewell for a dirty gastro weekend away.

It's got a Michelin star and was one of the restaurants that Coogan and Brydon ate at in The Trip.

I'd link to a clip but frankly I can't be arsed and the locally brewed ales are calling my name.

Reports on the nosebag to follow

  • Lameloise, Changy en Bourgogne, on our honeymoon coupla weeks ago. Boom! What an evening - highly recommended if you are ever in the area.

  • the embarrassing thing is, that even the truckstops on the outskirts of villages, with trestle tables and plastic tablecovers serve, on average, better ingedients, prepared with more honest care and flair than some of our self-congratulatory 'fine dining' establishments.

  • In France you mean? Oh yes, totally. Two weeks of uninterrupted fine food, that meal mentioned above being the absolute pinnacle.

  • Just having a look at the menu's for Mugaritz and Martin Berastegui

I'm as excited as my wallet is scared

  • I'm off to Dinner by Heston tomorrow for lunch (freebie cause we're doing lots of conferences at the Mandarin Oriental next year).
I also had High Tea at the Ritz on Sunday. You can't beat a good sarnie.

  • Can anyone help me? I need to find some more private dining options for work events. We usually use the Savoy, Pied a Terre, Gauthier, Roux at the Landau and Hibiscus. We need some more options.
It should be fine dining (michelin star preferable) with a private dining room and single table large enough for about 14 guests. Options need to be in Central London.
    Anyone? Thanx in advance.

  • What about Pollen St Social? I know it's got a private dining room as does Dinner by Heston

    Any use?

  • St John have a private room.

I'm trying to book suckling pig for my b-day this year...

It's great but not fine dining so I didn't include it.. really like it there.

  • Not yet been to a Michelin starred private dining room.
