  • You don't hit 3* if you have flawed service.

  • For me the service at the Fat Duck wasn't really service per say. Yes they were super attentive and all that. I had "fun" there. No ego. No pretence (Alain Ducasse and Marcus Waring was all a bit straight laced and dress code). At FD I wore converse and just laughed so much with the staff.. They were like extra guests at our table.

  • I guess the only option is to just go and experience it for myself.

I mean to be honest, it's mere chump change, might go three times just to make sure they're consistent.

    lol jk.

  • ^^ did they call you 'guys'?

i fucking hate it when waiters call you 'guys'.

  • Lol.

"HAAAIII GUYS!!! Are we all ready to order yet?!"

    Fuck.Off.You.Fake.Cunt.

HA! If a waiter ever calls you "guys" the restaurant you're at does not belong in this thread..

    Bodeans thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

But no, they didn't call us guys. Think it was Sir and Madame..

  • OK so maybe not posh food & OT....but

My Hawksmoor burger top spot has been taken by Meat Liqour... hop dam! Go there doods!

Just back from lunch at meatliquor. The dead hippy burger is completely amazing. Also the deep fried pickles.

this, same kind of thing at Noma, really friendly and help you have a great experience.

Waterside was more traditional and the service was bonkersly good. I'm sure some of them receive ninja training

  • Does Le Relais de Venise l'Entrecote belong in this thread? If so i went there today for lunch, it was awesome. I had my steak bleu which was perfect.

  • Big fan of L'Entrecote, even if it is a one trick pony - one of the best steaks in London, as long as you like how they serve it!

    fuuuuuuuuuu

been there twice now and forget to try the pickles...

L'Entrecote is OK imo, but very "business lunch", having said that I've only been to the one in the city...

  • Went for the taster with wine pairing menu at Viajante at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green last night. Amazing work. The staff were exceptional and knew all there was to know about the meal.
Included in the price for 6 courses was an additional selection of 4 Amuse Bouche which were just mouth watering. I'm glad we paired up on wine too as I couldn't have picked a bottle that would have complimented each course so well. Particular highlight was the Red Mullet, pickled apricot and citrus granola, paired with a delicious Filipa Paro "Nossa" 2010. Amazing... you just don't want the tastes to end... until the next course arrives of course!
The really great thing about this menu is that they don't tell you what you are having before hand. All they do is check you don't have any particular allergies or requirements, and then they serve each course with an introduction as it arrives at the table. At the end of the meal you can request an email or printed copy of what you have eaten. It really keeps you on the edge of excitement and also gives you something to speak to the staff about each time a course is served.
Highly reccomended for a romantic one with the wife... I wouldn't go with more than one of you though, especially if you are paying! £300.00 inc a cab there and back (5 mins form my house!!!!)
    Merry Christmas Bank balance!

    What happened???

  • Had dinner at Le Dauphin in Paris 2 weeks ago, couldn't get a table at Le Chateaubriand so we were glad to get something at Inaki Aizpitarte's other venture. Had 5 dishes between the two of us and all were executed with such finesse that I was really impressed.

Technique, seasoning, produce, presentation and produce were all first class. Very reasonably priced too.

Mrs jaw said the sucking pig was the highlight of the meal whereas I reckon dessert (Basque cherry cake with almonds) was pretty special.

  • Went to the Ledbury last night with my wife. Vegetarian tasting menu. Excellent bottle of wine. Awesome. Although the veg tasting menu is almost equivalent in price to the meaty version, which I think slightly takes the biscuit, but hey, that's life. Or at least, that's the pampered, indulgent version of life such restaurants attempt to create.

  • since when u veggie?

  • since ages ago!

  • oh yeah...

  • I went to Marco Pierre White's The Kings Arms on boxing day. http://www.wheelerskingsarms.com/

It was pretty meh but very cheap. will update later when im less hungover

  • I was at the Wheelers St James the other day. It was nice and not pricey.

  • Unlimited Champagne!

3 courses and unlimited champagne for £55 at The Quartier Dining Room, 8 Moorgate.
Only if you book through this link:

Sounds like a bargain to me. Tell your friends.

This was tasty. Went on Friday evening.

Expected it to be pretty piss poor champagne but it was a pleasant 2004 Tattinger Brut.
