    Not starred but very good.

  • Been to Trishna, it's amazing especially the lunchtime deal.

  • They all look ace! Rasoi probably has the best menu on paper.. What about Banares? Anyone been there?

  • Birthday gift from my other half is the two of us going for a four day gourmet excursion to San Sebastián with this company. http://www.sansebastianfood.com
    It looks fucking awesome.

First day is foraging for pinxto, tasting menu at Berasategi the next day, Basque cooking course the next day and tasting menu at Akelarre on the final day.

  • Jesus, that is all kinds of ace.

  • I know, I am a very lucky man.

  • Had been told we were going to McDonald's for supper, instead it was the 12 course menu at HKK

    Stunning.

  • OK, you have to stop now since I can no longer contain my jealousy.

  • you should see the BBQ preparation, low brow, trailer trash, posh food!

  • Was good? Just booked this in for a date night in August.

  • Amazing, presentation was stunning, dishes balanced and sensible pacing between courses - no long waits but not rushed either. They also do paired alcohol free drinks which were lovely.

  • paired alcohol free drinks

    Now this I like.

  • Went to Fishmarket in Reykjavik last night and had their tasting menu. Portions were huge.

Started with rye geysir bread and smoked salted butter
Butter lemon langoustine tails with edamame purré, pickled onions, cauliflower
Calamari with crunching spiced oats and Tabasco
Rock shrimp tempura with melon, jalapeno sauce and leek sprouts
Grilled minke whale with horseradish, berries and a soy and ginger sauce

    volcano lobster maki
Lobster tartar with sesame oil, 7 spice and chilli on top of maki roll with salmon and cucumber
    scallop nigiri

Lightly salted cod spiced with lime zest served with potato puree, dried cranberries and sweet celery salad
Robata grilled salmon with parsnip, apple and fennel vinagrette, radish and crispy fried lotus root
grilled mountain lamb with sauted jerusalem artichockes, confit of lamb shank, pickled beetroot and fried enoki mushroom

Warm chocolate cake with melting caramel centre
white chocolate cheesecake with meringues and passionfruit
    Raspberry and liquorice lava mousse
    mojito sorbet
    pineapple sorbet

  • I went to Chez Bruce on Tuesday for lunch. Fantastic value and a really interesting menu.

Sadly, I'd been out on the lash til 2:30 the night before and only managed my starter before feeling so sick I had to run outside pretending to be on the phone to get fresh air.

My companion was pleased though, he ended up with five courses for £29.50.

    What an idiot.

  • Just been to the other posh food place in town, Grillmarket, and had their tasting menu:

Deep fried dried fish and squid
Whale, puffin and langoustine mini burgers with pesto, chorizo and horseradish mayo
Minke whale steak with ginger and soy dip
Steamed mussels in spiced broth with seaweed and dill

Monkfish with orange sour cream and garlic
Fillet of cod with sundried tomatoes and chorizo, cauliflower puree and cauliflower couscous
Lamb with mushroom potato, enoki mushroom and Apple glaze

Chocolate with mascarpone saboyone, warm caramel and coffee
    Skyr, rhubarb and lava volcano
    mango mousse and coconut parfait
two sorbets can't remember what they were had popping candy on them with fresh pineapple, melon, watermelon and orange.

    Full!

  • What about Dill?

  • Maybe it was in the spiced broth?

    Boom fucking Tish

  • Yes Dill is also a lovely posh restaurant but I can't go to them all, I'd have to start selling body parts to fund it. Should have reworded I suppose.

  • :)

I went to Dill when we were in Iceland earlier in the year, so just thought about it.

  • I think we went to Fishmarket last year, is it the one in a lower ground floor?

    Edit

My mistake, we went to Fish Company which was fun but a bit like a masterchef attempt at a tasting menu, lots of foams etc which did not add to some of the dishes.

  • lots of whale on this page

  • like most fish, whale is delicious!

  • First time I had whale it was in a peppery sauce, nom nom.

  • Was it farmed whale?

  • not sure, I was only 9 at the time and provenance was not a concern, was given it by some Norwegian friends who only told me what it was after i had eaten it.
