  • hello all, i have recently taken the paint off my raleigh frame so i could see the serial number its WD9001071, so that meens it was made in Worksop in March of 1979 right? on sheldon brown is says "Worksop (Carlton)" does this meen its actually a carlton frame? cheers

  • raleigh acquired carlton sometime in the 1960s i think, so presumably they 'shared' factories.

  • ok so its still a raleigh then, where can i find a catalog relavant to that year? i found one but its raleigh USA

could be something like a grand prix.

raleigh badged made in worksop, it have a wrap over type seat stay?

  • I need help please.
    Bottom Bracket question:
What is this model of BB, please?

Spindle is 111mm, it's engraved 68-SS, it's steel and heavy.
According to Google it should be 109mm, to be a NR road
compatible with (older campy) track cranks.
Since it has the shield rather than 'Campagnolo' written, I iz confused.
It was being used with a 107mm track spindle (Shimano),
and this 111mm is the OG.

    Obrigado
    Nuno

  • italian spindle length?

    This any help? http://www.minortriad.com/campagbb.html

  • Correct that, mine is 109mm... lol.
Epic fail on me, I suck, self-utfb, etc, etc, etc....

  • Anyway, according to those listings my spindle is a track one...

    A - 54
    B - 27
    C - 27

Like the Record Track - 68 P 120, but mine has the wings logo not Campagnolo.

  • Found one.
    It's a Record Track.
    Thanks Prov.

  • would this be the place to post some pics and info about a bike i bought and can't identify, or should i start my own thread?

  • ...bike i bought and can't identify...

Name of this thread - Can you help to identify these frames, bikes or parts?

    You know it makes sense.

  • ...

  • Cayne - One of the 1st "fixie"
F&F available from ebay, ± 3/4 years ago.
Made with some shitty Chromoly tubing,
they used to sell for 100 quid or so.
Made in Taiwan (?), pretty sure I remember
    seeing the sticker.
Decent for the cost I guess.

  • lol, that was quick/easy.

  • found this bike in a field in france a couple of years back, fell apart as a ten speed and needs to be rebuilt, for now its living like this though. came with nice components: cinelli stem/handlbar, mafac racer brakes, sachs huret derailleurs, stronglight cranks, campagnolo seat post. most of this fell apart, but you can see the remainders. Nervex lugs, pretty ornate i guess (of the pro variety?), coupled with the lightness of the frame, makes me think its pretty decent? as does the chroming.

if anyone has any more info i would be very appreciative. cannot find the frame builder online at all (E. Lebeau). sorry for the pretty useless pictures, its all i have on my computer at the moment.

also any suggestions on what to do for chrome pitting? chrome is flaky as hell on those forks.

  • I bought this thing from an old road racer who's also a mechanic, an eccentric one at that. He has some friends at a nearby track club so sometimes he gets old stuff, such as this wheel. I figured I could use it brakeless for polo, but I couldn't really inflate it without a pump adapter.

Anyway, I was unable to find any info on such a wheel. It has NISI stickers, but on the hub 'flanges' engraving says "Gipiemme". That's all, no other logos, names, not that I could find at least. Not sure if it's carbon fibre, though it seems so in a couple of places where the white paint ring is worn. Unfortunately, I don't have more detailed pics for now. I would appreciate if anyone helped me identify this and/or determine how much it could be worth.

  • it might be an ambrosio disc by the looks of it, as far as i remember they used gipiemme hubs.

^This, couldn't find the picture last night, still can't.
There was someone in Sweden with loads of Ambrosio Discs, at some point.
Remember seeing one hubless, and it was Gipiemme.

  • Thanks for all the answers, guys! At least you're trying (;.

flick it, if it doesn't feel plastic, it's not carbon

At first, I thought it felt more wood-ish. But now I'd say it's plastic. Would it be risky to try and find out by disassembling the hub?
