  • I too am a 'rider'

my frame is Oria ML25 tubing, however, it looks almost identical to your frame, which makes me suspicious of the columbus stickers on yours.

however, as dutch says it may have been built by different builders.

  • after stripping the purple paint, still cant find any serial number underneath them,
by the way, how does magnet test can id a frame material?

    the link

  • Magnet test is not 100% precise.
It's obvious that your frame is steel, no carbon or aluminium.
Now you may have doubts if it is stainless steel or another steel alloy.
I would put all my money on non-stainless steel, just by the apppearance of the frame.
Besides that, some stainless steel materials are attracted by magnets, others aren't.
So it doesn't make a lot of sense to do that.

I don't think that a magnet can tell the difference between Reynolds, Columbus, Mannesmann, Oria, Dedacciai, Tange or Vitus steel.
High end tubes often have a stamped / rolled marking in the tubes. E.g. bottom of steerer tube, front side of top tube and down tube, bottom of seattube, front end of chainstay, ...

  • Alright then lads, try this one. Just bought this on the bay and wondering what it is. I believe most if not all denton frames were mercians. does this follow suit?

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170557180382&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

frame number is 035251 and is printed on the bottom bracket.

  • Could anybody ID these frames please.........

  • it's green

  • and steel

  • probably 50's with Nervex lugs. What does the seatube sticker say?

  • Thank you Tel I think I like your reply better than the other 2. As Dutch Cheese has pointed out its green and that is all that is on the steel ( thank you 31t good spot sic) frame. So no sticker sorry.

  • What does the seatube sticker say (on the green frame)?

  • On the green frame no sticker on the blue frame MOORLAND CYCLES

  • We can all see the stickers on the green seattube. What do they say?

  • Probably that it's green and steel?

  • On the green frame that is the STEEL one it also has GB HIDUMINIUM QUILL STEM GB HANDLEBARS "MAES"

And on the blue frame it has a GB531 chrome stem and a Campagnolo cotterless steel sport crank set from 1971, great chrome on chainring side and I'm having the nearside crank re-chromed and the alloy ring polished.
    See this example

  • Well you would be wrong it say's 'Tour de France' can't you see the the sticker?

  • Here is frame number 3, It's chrome all over, it has white panels, it has J3380 on the Btm bracket and a Phillips cotter chainset, a GB531 stem, Simplex gears and a metal badge on the front saying Carlton.

  • @TimBA - thanks - looks similar - but the rear stays in your photo look different, and potentially the rear brake bridge. Looks like rider - but I assume different builder.

I feel quite confident on the columbus stickers on mine - nothing says to me that they are applied after - and if I can say so - it feels slx light...

here is an ad for rider I was given in my search

The bridge is definately the same, as are the lugs. Seems weird that they would use such drastically different tubing, but i suppose anything can happen if they swich builders. Can i ask what seatpost size it takes?

I got mine NOS from Tour De Ville and ive never been able to find any info on them besides what had been said in conversation on here. Thanks for the ad! Ill start my collection of rider pics with it, your bike and mine.

Also i am drawing up illustrations of the logos in case they get really scratched up, if you ever need replacements i can send you the files.

  • This frame is green, it is made of steel, ..yes,yes... BUT
THERE'S A GREAT BIG FUCKING STICKER ON THE SEATTUBE.

    No.3 is a Carlton?

    I give in.

  • Hey Fruitbat
I have said it has a sticker see above, and it say's 'Tour de France' but I think it is just a general one, stuck on after a Dulux paint job. I think it's a mid 50's WF Holdsworth with Nervex lugs

The Carlton is a joke in reply to the dickheads who keep saying green and steel.

Thank you for your help, don't give up, let me know if you have any info.......

  • @ elllguapo

www.bikestream.be is the shops (Simons) website

  • Hello Everyone !
I'm asking for some help en enlightment. I bought this bike in berlin on the market for 70 euros. I have no idea what it's worth and i can't find anything anywhere about it. no information at all.
the decals say Exclusiv , but can't find anything with that, So if anyone can bring me knowledge, would love that !

  • all I know about that bikes is: it is german, and is worth 70 EUros.
now the specualtion, I will say is not a top noch frame, the lugs are a bit fugly

  • Just some more info to add to my post (754). the frame number is 035251 and there is also a makers mark which is and EO in a diamond also printed on the bottom bracket. any ideas?

  • Just saw this on gumtree... I'm not sure if its just an old 5 speed raleigh record (the crank looks different to mine) or something more decent.. Here's what the seller said.

"I'm not too sure on the make of the bike, but I think I remember it was something similar to my own name, something like "Jimm" believe it or not. I don't think it was a well know name."

Bit weird, but its going for cheap and might be worth a punt if it's decent. He claims its very light, which doesent sound like a a 501 record, but who knows.

the seat stays look a bit different to your usual raleigh bike too.
