  • What are these wheels?

Almost certain they are an older version of the Protons. I've got a front exactly the same as yours (minus the dust-caps) - bought in good faith as a proton, have had no reason to doubt it. Good wheel - light, smooth, and surprisingly resilient...

  • Yo peeps, any idea what this beast might be?
ive literally no idea after ages looking!

  • ...

  • mystery wheels time...

campagnolo logo retainer on non-drive (L) cone

    non-drive side, 12 hole traditional j-bend spokes - approx 290mm

    drive (R), 12 straight pull spokes - approx 297mm

traditional nipples into ambrosio synthesis sper professional 24h tubular rims

    freehub 10 speed campag

after searching the campagnolo catalogues am at a loss to what this could be, any knowledge appreciated

also, wasn't aware that ambrosio did these in as low a drilling as 24..

2006 proton hub, spoke lengths threw me, now where to get some more bladed spokes?

  • Hey guys what frame is this ?
    Looks interesting
Is it good quality or just another visp

  • Just got some nice chainrings from Tel.
Marked as 'GBP' and 'USA', though it could be 'OBP'? They seem very well made, the outer ring is a slightly different type, but is 7075 alu Both are extensively machined. Anyone know the make?

  • Bought a bike for £10 today on Brick Lane. Wondering if it's worth anything and all the decals are scratched up.
I'm sure I've seen that logo somewhere...

  • What are these wheels?

    9 speed Campag, 24 spokes:

Now it says Proton on the rims, so I assumed these were Proton wheels:

But I've been told that Proton wheels have black hubs?

first year of proton - 1998 - alloy, not black

  • dmc beat me to it, but tommasini - nice for an ayrton!

  • Any thought on this one? Ignore the sticker on the forks, the bike is wrongly badged.

  • Could be a holdsworth possibly resprayed at some point ?

  • any wider pictures, showing the whole frame, plus seat cluster and under the bb?

  • This was bought recently by a friend and is subject to an ebay dispute. Once it's all resolved I'll put some more detailed pics up.

  • Just bought this frame badged as Barchelli, wondering if anyone knows anything about it or who/what Barchelli is?

  • Handsome frames those barchelli's I've seen a couple (or possibly the same one with different curators) recently.
At the back of my mind I thought Barchelli were built by a cycle shop in the UK, no idea where that hunch comes from and I can't find anything to back it up so I'm probably wrong.

This guy here claims his frame was "Roberto Benigni's cousin's mates bike - ridden to victory on numerous occasions in the Italian track league throughout the early eighties"

  • can someone please tell me what is this logo on the seatpost? never seen it before! thanks

    Hi,

more likely to be seen on cranks.

get some to match the seatpost ;-)

Looking through some images the headtube lugs look similar although the fork lugs have an extra cut out that I cannot spot in any pics. Also the frame number is wrong. Holdsworths started at 6000 and ran upwards. This one has a number on the steerer of (IIRC) 2217.

    excellent, thanks a lot!

It looks like an engagement ring from QBP

Mine is the same one as 'Roberto Benini's cousin's mate's bike' I think as they both have the same ding in the top tube. Would be interested to know if that was true

  • Yes, I wondered that - I think I saw the same one go on ebay this time last year - also with a ding on the top tube and no forks! - I was outbid at about £40 on it if I remember rightly, can't remember what it went for in the end. The Roberto Benini connection is worth investigating.

It may be worth taking your questions to Classic Lightweights - some of the chaps on that forum are pretty knowledgeable on these matters -

    Good luck with it
