I managed to salvage this frame out of a geysers garage on the weekend. it is a track frame with no cable guides, no water bottle bolts, no hanger etc. It has no branding or impressions on the seat stays. anyone know what make it is?
That should probably be 'geezer's garage' :)
I'm sure you're aware that the lack of features you list is standard for track frames?
As Rodolfo says, you need bigger and more detailed pictures of the bike for anyone to be able to give you more information. It looks like a fairly ordinary frame, though. Perhaps the two-tone paintjob is original and might be a hint?

I've had these cranks for a while now - I've always thought they were for track as they're 165.. but my repeat dredges of the internet aren't really helping.. can anyone confirm?

i can't help but just because they're 165mm doesn't mean they are track cranks - shimano make the majority of their road cranks in 165mm.

I reckon they are the Sugino Super Mighty Track Crankset

do you have a pic of the spider from the rear?
-
• #1657
nope - not at present, they're currently in storage at my mums house with most of my other bike bits. Moving most of it into my house at the end of the week so will take some more photos.
FWIW - and what I can remember, the back doesn't look like it could ever have accommodated another ring, but will take photos to confirm. If they were the track version does anyone have idea of their value?

It does look like a super mighty. Slightly different to the one in this pic - http://www.flickr.com/photos/donalrey/2967448839/ The spider doesn't flare where it meets the chainring.

yeah - another here too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jung-ping/3019348846/

Can anyone idenitfy this panto'd chain ring with a large script C on it? Comes off a bike with all Campag bits, but I can't find an online example (e.g. at Velobase) with this sort of fluting.
Also, is that a Campagnolo 'C'? I'm not sureTa
edit: try here since link seems not to work

anyone know what rims are on this wheel set??
am looking for some matt finished silver rims not polished any ideas? -
• #1662
Matt silver would be anodised instead of polished.
Not sure on that rim, similar to a CXP30

The wheel weighs in at ~2kg with skewer, so its not light!
2kg!! ???? HOW!!!!
my road frameset weights that much with BB + headset. I have DH rear wheels that don't weigh that WITH tyre.
whats inside it? spent uranium shells? -

Hi all - I've just (almost) finished refurbing a friend's old frame but got no idea what it is. Not much to go on I'm afraid - pencil thin stays with a huge bottom bracket area.
Any suggestions or tips on what to look for gratefully received.

I think that might be an old viking track frame. maybe.

Thanks. Have been doing a bit of searching this morning & identified that the lugs are Nervex Professional Fishtail - which look like they were in use from about '55 to 2000, so that narrows it down a bit!

Yeah man, it's HEAVY, but fuck it, it's a disc :-)

whats inside it? spent uranium shells? It's not a Mavic Comete wighted wheel is it?

weighted. not wighted.

Dunno, i have no idea what it is - why would you have a weighted wheel (honest question)?
EDIT - OK did a quick Google and i don't think it is a Comete - the valve hole is a very different shape and there's no evidence of the removable weight pockets as per the Comete +/- variant of that wheel.
Also i can't see Mavic using an Italian hub?

for time trials and track records. once you get the inertia going it helps keep the rolling speed.
Mavic made a disc wheel with interchangeable weights so you could vary the inertia created.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/steel-is-real/2894278664/
they also made one that wasn't variable.

Ah ok, i found that exact picture - it does look suspiciously like mine actually, particularly with the lack of machined braking surface. It's a shame the valve hole is covered up in the picture though, but this may have been a feature that changed over time.
Cheers for that, it's the closest anyone's guess has been so far! Is there any furher info on what hub Mavic used at the time?

it would probably have been one of their own ones. but this is working purely from memories of reading cycling weekly in my economics classes at school in the early eighties.
I'll be adding a picture tomorrow but does anyone know anything much about a frame builder called Graham Tomlinson. He operated out of a premises just up the road from me I assume 30 years ago at least and there's one of his frames in the shop I work at. I haven't been able to find any info on the net so thought I'd ask here instead.
Like I said, pictures to follow tomorrow.
