On the topic of the GF01, I just received my new (non disk) frame as a warranty replacement for my road racer SL01. After having it for 8 months I found crack in the seat post mount, as the SL01 has the aerofoil seat post it has 2 slots at the mount with one of them cracking. BMC sent the GF as the replacement as it appears they are no longer making the SL01.
To be honest the whole warranty process took a fair while (2 months). I was a little disappointed at first because they just sent a different frame without telling me and I really liked the SL01 geometry. After my first 100 miles on it last weekend my tune has changed and I am quite happy with the GF01. I didn't really notice the the "vertical compliance" they talk about so much but its was a really nice comfortable ride. I can't comment on its climbing ability because I haven't been on the bike in a while and I had done about 40 miles by the time I got to box hill so I ended up spinning up it (excuses right...). However when ever I was out of the saddle it felt nice and solid. I should probably mention I am also running 23's and it would probably be much more comfortable with the 28's it comes with. I post another update once I get a few more miles on it.
It did come with all the kit (plugs ect.) to run it with electronic shifting. I probably won't need them so if someone was looking for them you are welcome to have it.
Also on the topic of warranty. I purchased the bike in America and that didn't appear to be an issue getting replaced over here. As Evans are the only distributor in the UK they handled the replacement, the guys were really great and looked after me, especially because I hadn't purchased the bike through them.

I've also had a BMC frame replaced through warranty. I also found it very easy (through Chain Reaction Cycles).

I have a Phonak SLC01 from 2006.
Perhaps i'll get around to re-building it at some point...
And here it is...
I put Campagnolo Record 10 speed on it which it would have had originally when it was following Landis up hill and down dale that infamous year.
The only new stuff bought specifically for it were the ITM stem & bars in WHITE because i generally have distaste for all this matt black on bikes codswallop.
Oh...and it goes alright as well.

Oh! Ok....
However...this was the first time out on the road with this bike and guess what? I raised the seatpost by about 20mm soon after these pics were taken.
Also it may please you to know that my sit-bones, testes and perineum find this saddle angle rather appealing.
Enjoy your ride!

Are non electric Gran Fondo 01 really bad at shifting?

Can the bad shifting related to the frame?

Dammit told me this frame was made for electronic shifting and never worked mechanical.

Maybe he is right, but they sell the complete bike in the mechanical version... I have no idea!

Well yes I was advised to cease interest in the mechanical version.

There is a kink in the driveside chainstay. Which makes mechanical cable routing tricky. My mate reckons his terrible shifting was part worn lever and part increased frocition from the kink. He has now gone to Di2 and is loads happier. He never got around to testing the shifting with my lever and his mechanical set-up, as the snow cleared and I started using my bike. So cant really blame the frame 100%.
The GF01 frame comes in only one version. With cable stops etc. for either electrical or mechinical supplied. So BMC seem to be happy with it.

You can choose the seatpost setback. IIRC there are 3 Versions. So if you test ride one note where you end up putting the saddle.
My saddle is slammed forward on my Racemaster. Wish they did 0 setback Streampost.

I managed to sold my BMC. Now I am riding a Condor Acciaio with a properly fitting serving, and I am happy of my choice. Leaving the thread... Enjoy the ride
