BMC - tickling your fancy?

  • Still, I've now got some inspiring advertorial emails to look forward to.

  • I have just joined the BMC club with a NOS roadracer SL01 2010 with Sram Rival parts, got it for £1k at Evans, reckon it's a good enough deal. Only rode it from Waterloo to Camberwell, but already I love it. Can't wait to go out for a proper ride on it.

  • Ordered some Keywin CRM-Ti pedals for the Racemaster (Current ones are fecked), and am looking to replace my stem, as its actually closer to 110mm, than the 100mm stated.

Will be bringing it under 6.7Kg.

Swapping out the F&F for a mid priced full carbon set, would bring it well under 6Kg. But I love the racemaster to much to even consider that.

  • Would've thought just changing the fork would be the best upgrade than a F&F.

    Definitly.

At a guess my fork weighs 500+ g. So I could drop 150g in a heartbeat.

As much money as I piss away on bling parts for an initial bike build. I hate spending on upgrades, when the part in question functions perfectly.

Its on the list though. Getting a Racemaster below 6.5Kg, while maintaining its drive and handling stiffness, would be impressive. Even if I do say so myself.

My favourate thing to do now is ride it directly after the Cargo bike, which is 3 times the weight, and has a spongy internal geared hub + internal geared crank drivetrain. First time I did this I shot half way across the road in shock :D

  • Bit of a daft question, there is no registration needed for BMC warranty, right? I can only find their extended warranty scheme for models from 2011 on, which doesn't apply to my NOS as it's a 2010 model. Thanks

  • I didn't need to register for when I had to make a claim late last year through Chain Reaction Cycles. Fairly easy process it was too.

  • Right, thanks mate!

  • Possible new BMC Track Machine?

  • My new (model 2011) SL01 Ultegra. I changed the handlebars and stem with a Ritchey WCS logic II compact bar and stem. Took out the stickers from the DT Swiss R1700 wheels and now the bike look (to me) much better! Next step: new saddle!

  • Isn't that BMC track just the fancy new langster with some mucky decals?

The top tube of the Langster Pro looks different

  • He's being silly Teddy.

  • I'm mildly obsessed by this bike:

  • So yeah, I joined the BMC club today. Need to trim the steerer and switch out the calipers for my black PX superlights. Might try some Q-Rings on the Rotors too.
    I'm totally 'stoked' on it.

  • Nice!

  • ^reminds me of this:

  • Just got back from a short ride on this to try and get the fit sorted.
The TT is 5mm shorter than my old frame, but feels much shorter than that. I know BMC sizing is a bit odd, but do all BMC frames feel more compact than they actually are? It's nothing a new stem won't sort out, it just seems odd that it feels so much shorter than it actually is!

  • Maybe it's the inline seatpost you're using. That would bring you 25mm closer to the bars.

  • also seattube angle might trick your feel

  • The calipers will look the business on it.

Just stick a longer stem on there. sorted.

    Custom paintjob?

  • Evans write up here is the most epic paragraph ever created for a bike with no pedals :

The BMC Timemachine TMR01 Ultegra Di2 Double 2013 Road Bike is made to ride fast! You go fast. Very fast. Because you are powerful and you know that with the Timemachine TMR01, neither the wind nor your competitors can hold you back.

  • I don't care, I still want that bike.
