4 speed? Not 3?
-
• #7928
They might keep the 3 speed for a while, but definitely 2 and 6 speed are out of the door.
-
• #7929
9 speed should be 3 cogs and a 3 speed hub no? Which means that the 2 speed could potentially be the new 3 speed?
-
• #7930
Yes for the 9 speed, 2 speed will be 4 speed as it has better range better and durability.

Brompton Barcelona Jacket, anyone got one?
Would you recommend? -

Got a black edition super light front wheel and 6 speed rear to sell, 20 miles old... rear has sprockets. Bargains... need to clear my shed!
-
• #7934
Ooo interested in the rear if you've got the RH black 3 speed shifter for it too
-
• #7935
Course! Integrated or like a Sturmey one? I got both...

More 2 speed system fun tonight.
I reckon the issues lay about 30% in the Anchorage, 25% mud / crap around the derailleur, 35% the shifter and 10% set up etc.
I will create a bombproof way for this to work... or I’ll give up and for something else.

I've really fell out of love with my 2 speed lately!
Constant shifting problems and cleaning crap of the derailleur. -
• #7938
yep, about right!
Hopefully I have solved it though... probably not. cannot get around the clogging issue very easily.
-
• #7939
And here I thought I was the only one! Look forward to seeing what solution you have with this shifting issue. (Aside from going to single speed) 🤣

Leave it with me!

Also they’re getting ride of the 2 and 6 speed and replacing it with 4 and 9 speed.
I'm assuming the 9 speed is a 3x3, but how are they getting the 4 speeds?

Titanium frame bike, with carbon forks and stays with a standard headset 1 1/8 headset with 31.8 handlebar/stem clamp. Plus, aluminium seat post instead of the traditional steel. (Rumoured to be weighing around 6kg)
Oooooo. So want. It'll help the tendonitis in my right arm from lugging my Ti Brompton around. Probably.

I guess this is one option? A shit one though.
-
• #7944
Literally the same as 2 speed, but with 4 sprocket at the back.
-
• #7945
You mean 2 sprockets? Wouldn't that make it a 8 speed then?
-
• #7946
No, just a 4 speed cassette/sprockets at the back.
-
• #7947
Will work like a sack of shit... will only be worse from the current 2 speed which as soon as dirty is poor if you are lucky to have a shifter that works...
-
• #7948
This is my worry, hopefully they’ll have a much elegant and efficient shifting solution by next year.
-
• #7949
I doubt it! Unless you move the derailleur elsewhere you are very limited on space. It can’t be any longer, it’s not really able to be any deeper. You can change to pins rather than plates but these still suffer from the dirt!

Huh? Did you even click the link?

They say the 20 inch is a lot of fun, and probably more reasonably priced. As rumours has it the titanium version start from £3.5k.
Also they’re getting ride of the 2 and 6 speed and replacing it with 4 and 9 speed.
