  • Got to say, the brompoton is super comfy across the city, with the damper and the fat tyres, perfect for pothole city roads.

also perfect for what I wanted. 5 miles to work, after work onto the rush hour train into the city and then 3 miles from station to destination. makes getting around so simple and efficient.

    • don't give @maynardeames your direct number, he's like a crack dealing but for brompton parts! :)
  • Agreed. These bikes are hugely addictive to ride, as is the upgrade frenzy.

Picking up a chpt3 v2 shortly with a few special bits to replace my OG superlight 🤩

  • Can I use that as my status?

  • Net weight:10.3kg

    WUT?

  • I guess it is 3 speed with a rack but yeah that doesn’t really add up or make sense. I’ve seen full ti builds in the 6kg category

  • Got a few bits to move on,

New Busch and muller front dynamo light
    Pair of 2019 brakes (black)
New style brake levers/shifters - silver
Rims - black and silver, angled and std
Loads of 2 speed hubs / 2 speed wheels - new / can be built to your spec - silver hubs
Joseph Kuosac bars - mid rise black - new with a scratch from fitting/removal
25mm Kuosac racey tyres - folding ones
Couple of spare bells - integrated ones
    2 front frames (headtube section)
    Silver headsets - a couple
    2 x m520 spd pedals - used

Lots more stuff I haven’t got into yet!

  • New style brake levers/shifters - silver

    @youramericanlover get this

  • Do it now.

Also will need cables and anchorage, I have these in my box too

I'd love to @amey but I'm already buying cranks from him. The brakes on my brompton are fine. I am used to one poorly tuned brake on my fixed gear, having two reasonable brakes is already feels luxuriously safe.

  • How much for the black brakes? Will they work with the old levers?

  • Yes they will, rrp is £60 for the pair, I’d like £40 posted, and they come with reflectors ;)

  • he's like a crack dealing but for brompton parts

He is! Have resisted any upgrades to my Raw S2L except the bars so far, but there are a couple of things on that list that are tempting! :(

  • I’ll do you a little bargain for a first time purchase..

You know, to get you hooked..

  • Posted all the way to Oz? Find me that square taper ISO BB as well, would ya?

  • Hey Brompton peeps,
My 1992 Brompton had quite a few parts replaced over the years including the main frame, but I think the front mudguard stay is original, the older type where the hook (fitting to the rear triangle stay when folded) is still made of folded steel instead of the current plastic hook. I lined it with heat shrink sleeve to prevent scratching when folded, but the hook isn't very stiff, keeps needing re bending in place (front wheel ends up sitting too low when folded, which messes rolling the folded bike in caddie mode when shopping, I have rear rack).
Can I realistically hope that stay replacement with plastic hook will solve this, is it stronger/stiffer than the metal hook version? Can I just buy the stay on its own? Any improvement non Brompton standard or after market tweak I should consider?

  • Yo! Talk to me...

  • I think I am going to need one of the disc ones in 2 speed .. whats the price?

  • 6speed shirley

  • helo, sorry, ill get a shipping quote.

  • its 135mm, you would need to use a derailleur / rohloff / alfine!

  • Once you get discs on there you might as well get some carbon rimmed wheels too.

  • Sorry for a dumb naive question, £60 Ti 600mm seatposts from AliExpress, going to kill me? 85KG rider...
