^^ stick with it.
Whenever I shave mine for the first time in the spring I suffer with shaving rash on my inner thighs, but this disappears after a few weeks of regular shaving.
Prancer makes a good point too. personally my first shave of the year is four disposable razors, 2 per leg. If you just used one and worked up your legs no wonder yoyr thighs are a state as it would have been far from a clean blade by then.

And don't think you can get away with cheap razors. Gillette Mach III is expensive next to Bic, but worth it if you value your skin.

if you shave its just come back stronger, you have to wax...

can make caramel though - does the job too. bit o sugar with lemon juice in a pan... some spit and you are sort-ed

My legs were pretty hirsute to begin with so I set to work on them with beard trimmers to get rid of the excess then a new Mach III to finish them off (which lasted both legs). Can't remember which way I shaved but probably from ankle up so would be against the grain which might be part of it.
Anyway first bald TT tomorrow so I'll be able to provide categorical proof whether or not shaved legs are faster than hairy legs.

5 seconds over 40k apparently*.

yeah, I'd like to see a new study. Shaving has come a long way since then. What are they upto now, 6 blades? 7?

hairy keeps them warm in winter and warm in summer*

Shave, the inevitable road rash isn't as bad that way. But every time I do I wonder if I've taken this sport too far.

CEMENT = hairless legs. (Real Mans Solution)
I have small'ish feet (yeah yeah, I know the analogy) but like most cyclists, fairly chunky thighs/calves.
I can't wear wellies without cutting them down, as they will not fit over my calves...
So warm weather... shorts, cut-down wellies..laying a patio, the laying a new kitchen floor =
NO HAIR. cement dust burns ya legs; and the hair has never grown back.
I know cement is not very enviromentally friendly, but sounds better than "I shave"

If anyone wants to try it the missus can offer leg waxing.

I am happy to report back the results of the latest scientific research. After (ahem) extensive testing (n=2) I can reveal that shaving your legs saves you 22seconds over a 10mile TT.
Shaving may make me look like a twat, and give me a rash but it is faster... FACT.

Yes, it does often get darker as you grow up.

Personally, I think gorilla legs + Lycra looks worse out of the two...

Aye, and based on the fact that the guy in Hippy's study only saved 4 seconds per 40km by shaving compared to my 22 seconds in 16.1km, mine must have been particularly gorilla-esque.

the guy in Hippy's study
This made me think Hippy was keeping a young lad in his reading room, for whatever deviant purpose. Probably true, but not what you meant.

Shaved balls to belly for better tea-bagging and a noticable increase in perceived length ;-)

waxing ftw.
stump up and get a decent salon to do it for you.
not nearly as painful as some would have you believe and the resulting improvements to your post training self-massage (no crude comments please) are great. decent massage over smooth legs and some good stretching really does allebviate muscle soreness after heavy training. it seems to work a more lactate out of your muscles than stretching and a spin-ey recovery ride. -

Such untruths!
I don't have a reading room..

Wow @ the scab picture.......couldn't have put a warning on it? haha
did you use a clean fresh blade or an old one you have used on your face?
also did you go with or against the grain?
