I've lived in both, and think you're right. It's all more compact in Surrey, so you can pack 'em in from start to finish.

Shame about all the 4x4s though.

i rode a few miles to mcys to meet a mate for a brew, got about half a mile from mine and some old fool in a civic tryed to murder me, i swore lots, blocked him in for a good 3 minutes shouting at him, then met my mate and he said the same fella tryed to run him off his scooter a few minutes later. now at the birds and will have a 4 mile ride home in a bit

London to Brighton earlier today, Surrey hills today wereand up the beastly Beacon. It was exceptionally foggy at the peak, and quite alot of MTB'ers out and about. Then some lovely fish and chips on the way back home on the train.

Great saturday out, i'd say :)

The fog in Essex was the thickest this week, especially around Epic Forrest. It felt really dangerous wothout lights at 2 in the afternoon.

nice day out, 91 miles total.

Out with the Oxonian CC again this morning. A much faster ride as we split into groups, good to get a good work out, and a decent climb before the cafe stop where we met the slower group, then a suprisingly fast ride back to Oxford. 60 miles in 3h20m. The route:

Unstable downs is great fun on the road bikes hey,
Andy- gettin the miles in the legs again, nice.

Been in the Wareham forest today for few hours,
got in via x-c route, then did some circuits, getting the flow going on the best singletrack available.
Nice to be out solo for a change, even though I did bump into some of my wednesday group, and another group of Dorset Rough Riders who I know some of.

Steady grey day.oh yeah watched a lesser spotted woodpecker too, thats the little one with more red and black than the big green laughies you usually see.

More cross racing today. Did the classic thing of ripping the rear mech off (brand new too, oof) on the first lap. I don't have a spare bike, but after about 15 mins managed to sort out borrowing one and get back in the race. There were only 3 other women, and two of them were well away, but I managed to catch up to the 3rd girl by the end. Quite a frustrating day really, the course was great (my fave of the season so far), and my legs were good, so a shame I messed things up early on. Oh well at least I get league points for finishing. More fun and games were had on the ride home too, ghetto singlespeed with a slipping chain in 5 lanes of traffic :/
