  • I had an accident six weeks ago so this was one of the first times back on a bike.

Managed a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning track session at Calshot, organised by the West Suffolk Wheelers. I sometimes ride with them (my in-laws live in Bury St Edmunds) - a really great group.

There were 26 of us - oldest 65 and youngest aged 7 years (yes 7). Good grouping of the rider's abilities and I only wish I'd been fitter - left my lungs on the track during a team pursuit session!

  • Did a big loop of Surrey including Box Hill, Toys Hill and Brasted Chart on Saturday.

Still some heavy flooding out in Surrey.

Good ride though, Brasted Chart never gets easier.

  • ^ Good pace going up Toys. Nice work.

A colleague of mine was at this (Marc, was there with his children) and said it was great fun. I'd have loved to go along but unfortunately it clashed with craft beer rising. Next year hopefully.

  • I really need to learn my way round surrey. So close, yet I rarely get there.

Cheers, still felt like I was going to die going up it. It just goes on and on. Really rewarding fast downhill though. Then there is the Brasted Chart afterwards, just lovely.... :O

Give us a shout when you want to get out. I've got a Garmin I use to route rides. Without it I'd be totally lost..

    Cheers, I will.

  • 110 miles at 17mph in 20mph winds

    gran fondo 2 done

  • Did mine in levels of PM2.5 pollution from China (thanks, China!) that were classified "unhealthy". On the plus side, it was warm enough for shorts and a short-sleeve jersey. So worth feeling like I smoked 10 packs, I guess.

  • Cold, wet, windy, hilly, far.

    5/5

Winning.. not. Someone post me back to Spain.

  • They price parcels by volumetric weight, so it'd be cheaper to send you by a container.

  • I did the "short and sharp" ride with Brixton this morning, good times.

  • 10 k from hinton admiral to burley 830
10 k back in the pissing rain 1230
1230 edition with the fat bottomed girls in the 4x 4s
    great

I saw a lot of your lot at the Ide Hill cafe at about 11am. I was out with Blackheath Velo for the first time today which was thoroughly enjoyable.

Then decided a turbo session would be a good idea. It wasn't.

  • We had three rides going on at the same time today- short, long and cafe.

ah yeah, you can always talk up a good ride in a cafe, ive done some epics

  • Nice 40 miles in the chilly sun on Friday afternoon.

Reasonable 15 miles cross country riding in the wind on Saturday.

Horrible 23 miles in the pissing rain and misery this morning.

Was at the Crossroads again today before Aldbury in the Chilterns where benjam, jonny, skive, smith and me caught you a few winters ago.

I wasn't that far north today but I was in the Chilterns for about 9 hours. #fml

  • 9 hours? That's a weeks worth of training in Summer! Did 80 surprisingly enjoyable and mainly flat miles with a bunch of mates and didn't get my arse kicked. A good arse-kicking had been expected as I haven't done more than 40 since November....

  • managed 83m on sat. everything was going great until i decided to sit up, stretch my back and take in the surroundings for a few seconds longer than i should have and slammed straight into a massive crater. somehow managed to stay upright but double punctured nonetheless. didn't see hardly any cyclists all day saturday considering it was such a nice day.

  • Took the Stanton Slackline to Bike Park Wales. Much fun, didn't have an uplift booked so rode the climb 5 or so times and managed to blag uplifts a further six or so times.

Great fun if you are in to downhill type stuff of varying levels of technicality. Recommended.

Was having too much fun to take photos or record garmins

Unfortunately, not if your 'thing' is long distance TTing. To be honest it was a surprise to me as well. I only noticed Captain Evil had updated my training plan on Saturday night.
