Yeah I did, would advised against the coast because it's windy as fuck (worth checking the wind direction first thought).
That route cross the Reedham Ferry which is a nice little touch, worth going through.
It's not flat, just a tiny constant disillusion of tiny ascending and descending, what look like a descent felt like hard work, but the route between Manningtree to Well-next-the-sea was lovely and probably the second best of the route.
Route between Fakenham and Newmarket may be quite dull, I had a headwind the entire duration and it was hell, worth changing that section as it's just there to pass the time during the night to get to Straffon Walden for breakfast.
After Straffon Walden, you get awesome rolling hill that make you wanna sing Babel O'Riley, so I do recommend that stretch of route back to Manningtree.

Train out to Manningtree in the early a.m. then up along the NCN cycle route via Great Yarmouth and staying overnight in YHA in Sheringham. Next day out through Wells-next-the-Sea at least until Heacham and then back East to Manningtree or until I get tired and bail at a station that will take me to Manningtree.
You're welcome to come along if you fancy it! I still need to sort the hostel tho.
Kept refreshing, totally missed the new page doh!
The route ed posted goes literally past my dads house in Halesworth! So that would be an option to stay?

We could stop off for a break there totally. I think it's only about 40 miles - I was looking to do about 115. Here's day one mapped out below:

That look great, I reckon you should plot a second route nowhere near the coast if the weather turn out to be against your favour.

"Weekend, cold and windy, bright spells and heavy, squally showers, with hail and thunder."
Good advice I'll stick on that Strawberries Audax route just in case.

Derail. Anybody know whether there are some sections on this route better to be avoided as I just made it up?
Cromer sounds good, very good indeed, especially with the tail wind and trains on Sunday to London £16.50. Unfortunately there are no trains on Sunday morngin to Shenfield from London, so we had to start really early.

^ The A140 section in North Norfolk is won't be the nicest of roads if traffic is heavy (although doable). You could just divert though Erpingham & Aldborough instead?

Yeah wise words. My experience of A roads in Norfolk is that they are fast and grim.

Could follow National Cycle Route 1 for most of the way
http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/route/route-1
It's a bit longer but it is very well signposted so would save looking at a map and it tends to take the more scenic routes away from main roads. If it's too long then you could always train the Norwich-Cromer, or London-Colchester/Ipswich bits at either end

Comedy ride this morning...

Went to play in the mud round Elmstead/Chislehurst way, rode into a branch, got caught in a thunderstorm, dripped mud all over the house. Good fun.

Yesterday SonicSol and I had a play in the mud on CX bikes around Chobham common. With the ride out and back it came in a 70 miles, which practically doubled the mileage on my CX race bike.
We also had to navigate several new water features, some of which made the evening news. Water up and over your BB shell, steering in the current etc.
Much fun, but today I am ruined.

Bit windy out there.

It was ridiculous today. I raced at Longcross and the wind on the home straight was like hitting a wall. Nobody was prepared to do a turn.

Very brave. Bonty bars are good. And loved the comedy noise from The Price is Right when you took your tumble.

Im gonna be ready when the snow hits... gunna dig this funky number out
was mainly fixed for fun on gravel paths.

I really haven't had a proper ride in too long, pity I've had so much work to do. I must get out next week. I think I'll try and go for a relatively flat century on the pendle.

sketlove, you should get some risers and grips for when the snow hits. Snowy fixed rides are so fun when you've got a decent setup, good luck man!

Any pics of the Pendle?
-

Only a couple of crappy instagram snaps, if I can get out of bed on time there will be decent pics in cp tomorrow.

This looks like fun. Not sure about brakless on snow with those bars, though D:
Close but not quite. I haven't got it mapped yet and now was trying to maybe incorporate some of the Broads into it. I wanted to hug the coast a bit more but I have no idea about the area really. I may pinch the sort of return leg back south though, could be good. Have you done it?
