91 miles - 5700 ft climbing - 1 bug in eye - 1 swallowed - got lost, bonked - lost 2/3 cleat bolts on one shoe which made stopping at junctions / lights interesting

^ Chapeau. I've never had an insect in the eye AND down the throat in one journey. That takes some doing.

I rode my bike, the first time I've done so, bar commuting, since the beginning of December.
Was delighted to discover that the form isn't too bad. Felt joyous belting along the Pilgrims Way with a tailwind, turned up Star Hill and found it quite agreeable, which was a pleasant surprise.
Had a huge grin on my face most of the time.

Another weird one with the temperature at 2 degrees in Hertford, but 11 degrees back in town. It fucks with your systems.
I'll say. Garmin Connect says the minimum temperature for today's ride was 0, max 24. Looking at the detailed temperature stats I can't find anything below 1 though, and the 24 was in the sun at the cafe stop. It seems it was 1 degree for the first 17 miles or so then hit 18 later.
17 degrees difference! Bonkers.
Hippy it was warmer than I thought it would be, HTFU :P

Doing it wrong. Go straight to jail. Do not collect £200.

It wasn't a complaint, it was an observation from the guy that has eventually stopped wearing in his summer kit when it's snowing. TMF.

Bournemouth to Bruton Somerset.
Stopped at the start of the bhf Dorset ride to cheer on road group of track girls I'm working with, then over the Cranbourne Chase over to.Bruton, dunno how far about 40
Then 3 hours with mate training for an upcoming Mendips ride, we did a few zig zags and.it was getting bit cutting out so the face is like Mr blobby windburn, but good dose of.miles in.
Over and out. -

After grinding my way, red-faced, to the top of a small incline on KTBee's generously loaned road bike, Al suggests that I might like to drop my gear. "Use the small ring", he says. "Oh, is that what that's for?" replies some chump.
I sucked at using gears yesterday - kept forgetting them so approached hills like I was fixed and then sort of "ran out" of gears. Really need to practice swapping from big ring to small ring when I've run out of big ring gears as it were cos I'm going to need ALL of the gears for Italy
Overtook, to be precise. Lovely ride with fox, fussball club and tricity (and skully and poots, kind of) on the Witham Wander. Anything that ends with a buffet is alright with me.
This. In spades - 105km of mostly loving riding although my knees did not like the 2 miles of climbing up North Hill : /

Nice work! I have heard lots of good things about Pilgrims Way - going to cycle it next Friday on trip to Dymchurch. Can't wait!

Popped down to Exeter on Saturday to deliver frame and wheels to Mattyh. Met forumenger George91, also which was cool! Went for a nice pootle down to Exmouth along a boardwalk-esque cycle path. Slow, but very scenic.

Other highlights included riding the decaying road up Mam-Tor on a crosser and descending Winnat's Pass.
Did this on saturday at the end of a loop, it chewed me up and sent me home in need of chocolate milk
attempting snake pass tomorrow...

Bad day off waiting in for a new washing machine 7am-7pm delivery slot turned good when it turned up at 8:15am. Got a few trundling miles in around south London, maybe it's not so bad south of the river.. Also had CS7 to myself on the way back which was novel.

Another nice little 30.
Weather was odd to say the least. May have been a few GPS issues, apparently I climbed like spiderman. 135% incline?

A lovely sunny day to stretch the legs and get a feel for the new bike. Loads of people out and many a nod and greeting exchanged which was nice.
