I spent the weekend doing DIY. I demolished most of a wall with a sledgehammer today though, that was fun.[/QUOTe

I posted in the spotted thread that I thought I saw you entering Otford from the west...
Might well have been me. Cheers for the acknowledgement!
I felt comfortable throughout yesterday, which bodes well for the remainder of the summer. That said, the pace was pretty modest, it was just nice to be outside.
^^^ You are hiking up Swains Lane now?
The Lakes/ this forum have given me a few ideas for summer entertainment, tis all. My girlfriend is a bit of a walker, also, and it's nice to head out with her once in a while.

Well yes, but when I say 'most of' I mean everything except the wooden frame as I've got an appointment with the neighbours tomorrow night, so should be able to see what the layout is upstairs.
It is exactly what we thought - stud partition which isn't joined into any structural bits, so if the peek upstairs gives the all clear it's coming down.
It already looks so much better with the light coming through to the hallway./DIYchat

I headed north today to find some roads for routes in that direction. I found some roads. And this fella at the foot of Fladbury Hill (a tidy little forested climb in Worcestershire). Sleep well!

The Brixton Cycles lot (and one Rola-ringer) went for a ride in the french countryside on Sunday:

I'm afraid we all used gears though.
These guys were definitely single speed though (and were dressed correctly for the period):

Here's me and my lad on our contraption over the bank holiday weekend.
BMMF: at least my boy's wheel is one-speeded. It's a big gear which meant we flew whenever we got some momentum.
Beginning: Brockley SE4, setting out for paddington to train it just past Reading. Rode the Kennet & Avon canal all day, to Hungerford.
Somewhere after the Middle: On our way back east, near Avebury, having ridden a different way west the night before, thought we'd try an NCN route from Calne to Marlborough, that's the track you can see on our left.End! Nice pint at Great Bedwyn later that day before train home. He had sweets.

Great work Skully & Skully Jnr. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do something similar when BMMF Jnr is older. I'm planning something with him soon anyway...

Thanks for kind words and reps! It was a ace fun. One of the best bits was stopping for elevenses in the middle of a forest, chatting and eating peanut butter sangers.
Sounds good BMMF. Ours was hopefully a sort of test ride to see if we could attempt the Brest-Nantes canal sometime soon.

Nice, but no Strava?

No. We used OS maps. Strava is a for twats.

Oh hang on, I got confused, I meant Garmins are for twats. Strava's for sad twats.
Why do I need 'data' about a holiday? Or any bike ride for that matter? I'm not a sportsman.
-
• #3846
so you can prove that your holiday was bigger/longer/better/more epic :-)
...and then plot graphs about it.

Haa. haa.!
Gotta say that path n.c.n looks pretty ropey though, pfft. -

Your bank holiday trip sounds great skully, reminds me of trips i used to do with my dad when i was a probably little older than your son. I loved them but we didn't have a 'contraption' so i had to keep up. I would be so tired I'd fall asleep as soon as we got home. happy days

Inspired by BMMF went up the Cat & Fiddle fixed for the first time for a couple of years. Very pleasant 65 miles (approx), returned via the Velodrome/Etihad stadium, mobbed with people going to see Coldplay.
