^that's intended as a call to arms, or a dare / challenge really. Get back on your monogeared contraptions, slackers.

I'm a trackie now. Gears are for girls.

Good work. Now fit a front brake and do 60 miles round Wessex.

I do, I have, that there Isle of Wight twice, for fun and the sheer chewy thrill of it, and Wessex the fictional county of Hardy, crisscrossed with my trails, all under the might and hammer of singlegear, and you, BMMF, teaching all the while of 5psi differences, hell, before you uttered it despite being fixed since teens I never knew "souplesse",
I salute you. -

Are there Sparks Notes to help decipher your posts? Whatever, I like the sound of your drugs.

Blah. Moan. Blahblahblah...
I went for a ride this morning. Half group-ride, half my-own-thing in the countryside. I was the only one riding fixed but I wouldn't change that if I was handed a carbon encrusted electronically operated Cervelo.

I think a moan was due. This place is drifting away from its roots. Kudos, if you'll excuse the Stravaspeak, to those like yourself who still know how to thrash a direct drive round the lanes. We're a fucking dying breed.

I wish you were wrong!

Essex roll with Benj today. I changed gear incessantly.
-
• #3811
Fixed / gears, wgaf it's folks riding bikes. Bmx is SS though...
86 miles done, didn't do Holme Moss in the end but Snake Pass, Winnats, Old Brickworks and a lot of cheeky climbs inbetween made for a great day out.
Should get data from a clubmate later, riding time was 5hrs something but I was out the house for 8.5hrs due to chilling at a mates coffeeshop a few miles from home after.

Headed out with the mighty Bernie yesterday to Box Hill. The wind was fierce as we headed south but the route Bernie chose and the joy of smashing our legs was far superior. The highlight for me was box hill. Bernie and I had started off moderately and were soon being passed by two carbon zipp geared guys. They gave us the cursory comment, "wow, you two are brave attempting this fixed." Undeterred, we sped up to their back wheel, and much to their anguish maintained the +-20km/h. With about 300meters to the 'tea-stop' Bernie sprinted off from the back with me following, much to our domestique's disgust. 100 meters later and my legs blew, Bernie continued to hand out the pain! At the tea stop, in conversation with our two new friends, one of their final comments was, "perhaps i should add a fixed gear to my collection...haha".
The ride back was fast, as the wind shot us back to London. Was a morning well spent! -

How many other people on here who ride-ride, rather than just ride, still do it on fixed
I only ride fixed, including club rides, not sure if this is a ride or a ride-ride though?

Found out I don't particularly like cobbles. Got my very own to take home with me though, which is nice.

How easy is it to get a reaction from an alliterative throwaway comment like that.

I was kidding...
I spent the weekend promoting walking. I am failing at flying the forum flag.

Are there many that do?
I only set off in the afternoon, after a pretty stodgy morning, spending what remained of the day cycling between Surrey and Kent.
No bikes today, just a bus trip into town for a dry bag and some bungees. Attaching hiking boots to bike, while avoiding significant compromise to the cycling experience, is an interesting problem.

Hmmm, there's money in this walking active travel stuff,...
Bout 4.6 million in Bomo.over next 3 years, think it could catch on this walking around thing? I mean human bipeds aren't too bad at it, wonder why they've got themselves locked up in metal boxes, wierd world we live in... -
• #3823
I reckon. I did 150 walking miles in May. Would've done more if pesky cycling hadn't got in the way at weekends :l

I posted in the spotted thread that I thought I saw you entering Otford from the west just after 8 pm last night.
That looks like an interesting, and tough, route.

I do. I don't know if I would after doing the Roubaix though. Hope it was fun Tom.

+1. I think it's ok if you mix it up a bit, but continual geared reports can >>>>>

I spent the weekend doing DIY. I demolished most of a wall with a sledgehammer today though, that was fun.
How many other people on here who ride-ride, rather than just ride, still do it on fixed ever? For a fixed gear forum, we seem to be in the minority.
It would be nice if more weekend-warriors-posting-on-a-phauxie-forum made the decision to do their 50mile+ rides without mechs once in a while. Like this: headwind be damned.
I know it must sound a little churlish, but I wish more people would keep the flag flying*, or fuck off to bikeradar.
*respect to those that do - please don't feel overlooked
