Aberfoyle. I think I made comments about that place in another thread after our An Turas Mor ride. Someone gave me some suggestions about routes. Something about a 3 pie loop and https://www.strava.com/activities/2746878596

That must be pie at the start, pie in the middle and pie at the end. Good pies in the butchers, no denying it.

If its a foodie route your after, add the Aberfoyle butcher pies, the Achray Farm goat ice cream and Cullen Skink from the Stronachlacar Pier cafe as your stops on the ULTIMATE ABERFOYLE RIDE OF DOOOOOM.

Just the pies man (ok, i'll take the ice cream too). I was thinking more sweet pies (apple) but I'll take savoury pies down too.

There are sections of gravel which have been combined with a hot dark substance which has been steamrolled and left to cool.

Stopped off for a quick coffee in a certain supermarket just in that area during a car journey to Beacon Park, Gorleston a couple of weeks back.

I did make a mental note that the area looked to be good to be cycling in.

Dunkeld area today. Usually up there on the bouncy bike because the mtb trails are awesome but some nicely frozen gravel stuff to be had especially away from the storm damage.

Not done this whole loop out of Arrochar yet but done bits of it as part of mountain bike stuff, reckon its a real goer.

Back at the olds in Wales for Xmas, took a break yesterday from the competitive eating and forced myself out for what I thought would be a gentle 32 miles out in the remote hills, but riding around in terrain that easily tots up 1000ft of climbing every 10 miles always has me blowing out me 'arris. Despite the heavy breathing its lovely and deserted compared to London's famous London where I've been cycling all year, social distancing not an issue with just sheep and red kites for company.

The one on the SW side of the Box Mountain (immediate right from start of zig zag) that leads up to the car park?

If you liked it, next time try the sketchy bit going up to Pinehurst Rest Home... takes you middle of the zig-zag as well. Extra points if wet.

Yeah, was quite greasy surface. Only out a foot down twice which on 28mm slicks I thought was a fair effort.

The Pinehurst one is doable on 25mm slicks, but I stopped using that route after I got the carbon wheels. No foot down, but it's steep and cracks are sharp looking.

A better use for the Slate would be going down Juniper Top (or whatever that downhill through the woods towards N / NW might be) which has sandy hairpins with really steep downhills. It was very fun to descend, mostly walked/slid down though...

Bloody cold in Cheshire this morning, bright and frosty.
Took in the lanes of Congleton, Swettenham, Lower Withington, Jodrell Bank, Goostrey (where tea n a slice of cake was taken a The Trading Post), then back home to Congleton via Eaton.
At one point we stopped to check our route, and I found a vent for a combi boiler on an outside wall of a house, took full advantage and warmed my hands.
Not a long ride, but it was lovely to be out on such a beautiful winter's morning.

It was freezing fog in London's famous London this morning, thought I'd head out and see the sights, which went well. Houses of Parliament I think...

I guess I lucked out today then. Could have been an early spring day in Norfolk.
No fog and sunshine meant I was strippping off gloves and layers through the ride. Distinct lack of fitness though! 😕
