Great film Duncan - but new Arvatar Arvy!

WTF? If it wasn't for the fact I'm laid up for a week on antibiotics, and can't speak, I'd be making noise about not knowing anything about this. [/RPLZ hillclimb champion etc]

3pm??? Fucking yummy! If it wasn't for the fact that I will not have gears....
-
• #532
Just saw it on facebook and I thought of this, think I may pop down and watch folk hurt themselves!
-
• #533
Well, 'Swaintoux' is clearly a much better name. :) They could at least have called it 'roll up to a boozer' or something like that.
-
• #534
Have they just copied us? How many laps are they doing?
-
• #535
Didn't they run this last year, too?
Just one ascent, I think, as in hill-climb tradition the country over. But fast.

Oliver, that was the club hill climb and Christmas lunch. It was snowing and a Saturday. This is a Thursday afternoon and nothing has been said to members (even lax members like you).
-
• #538
So you didn't know about it, either?
-
• #539
Nothing on the CC or Rolla.com websites. A mystery.
-
• #540
Perhaps it was meant to be prefaced by an orienteering event during which everyone was first supposed to find the right hill to climb?

• #541
Lolz

This deserves a bit of recognition!
Have some +rep. -

It must be a fake/photoshop job or something. If RPLZ CC wanted to run an open event, it would be in the CTT handbook almost a year in advance.
Has anyone told Winspar?
-
• #544
but the Rollapaluza Facebook page posted it

Maybe they're doing a community event, and have decided to tag on a climbing option to the usual roller shit.
Don't care anyway.

It is the Rollapaluza Urban Hill Climb and will be from 6pm to 9pm on July 22nd.
It is open to all and free to enter, we are providing £500 of cash prizes, plus there is the possibility of extra prizes from yet to be named sponsors.
We have been unable to launch this event as the road closure application was long and protracted and only finalised when we were away in Europe last week, however we'll be putting all our energies into making this a great event in the short time allowed, further details and online entry will be up soon..
we made pinkymobbs aware as soon as we realised he was doing something similar to us...
Hope people find the idea exciting, as far as we know it will be the first closed rode official London urban hill climb ever!
We did indeed have a club hill climb event at Xmas when we took the opportunity to check the course and timing methods etc....

Winston, it was a joke, I'll definitely be along to cheer those crazy catz along :)
-
• #548
Coolio, I have difficulty knowing what is / isn't an internet joke in my current run-down state....see you there!

Winston made me aware of this some time ago. It was one of the reasons that I wanted a bit less fuss for Swaintoux so as not to anoy and locals and jeperdise this event. Swaintoux went off without a hitch so that was all good. I hope this paves the way for more random road cloasurs for TTing in the furture.
A full on road closed TT up Swains will be awesome! Good luck everyone. I would love to do this but unfortunatly I will be in France watching Le Tour.
