Point of order. This is 24 climbs of Swains lane, not 24 laps of the Death TT, correct? If its all about the climb is it acceptable to walk back down to the start as presumably for those being timed only Swains itselt is important. Obv would make more sense to do the laps but not having to ride down would save knee problems for those on fixed....
Just a thought. I'm gonna be geared I think so this doesn't affect me at all.... -
• #155
hmm I thought gears weren't allowed?
Spinning down would remove some of the lactic build up I imagine -

This is 24 laps of the TT. Although it makes up half the ride the desending isnt really where the time will be made up. I wont be desending like a madman to make up a few extra minutes.
Mike, due to popular demand we are now running a geared (this includes SS) and fixed catagorys. I will update the first post.

Christ, I'm rather tempted to try this fixed.
I managed to get round all 24 on gears this Sunday just gone, and now figure that mebe giving it a bash fixed is better than racin' with gears.
My fixed bike is 70", which I reckon is okay (a little high, if anything). It's mediocre at both up and down, rather than being good at one and a nightmare at the other.
Dunno. Mind you, I'm sure that it'll be a blast, either way.

70 will be really tough on the knees for that many laps.
Oh, and well done by the way.

I have failed on 75" up swains. well below 70 seems sensible for 24 laps of lunacy

I think you're right (I'm grimacing slightly as I write). It's the main thing that's stopping me from being all gung-ho. I reckon that the latter bit of the route would be pretty bloody desperate.
I've not really got the inclination to fiddle with my fixed bike for the race, and I think that any less gear inches would be a bastard on the way down west hill.
Mebe gears are best for me, after all.

Ben wont like that.

I am sorely tempted by this but reckon I would fail at the first lap
Knowing no way on earth I would manage the full 24 thats just bloody crazy
But would like to see how far I could push myself ..... umm..... goes away to think about it ... -
• #173
You went up 7 times in one day didn't you! You have to do this for the girls!
-
• #174
what happens if you have to walk up it 24 times ? does that count ?
-

48 miles at an averadge 3mph will take about 16 hours. Quite a while.
