I'll help out fixing any that are out West, or can be dropped off in Knightsbridge (most weekdays). Will be doing two this weekend.

Just heard back. Certainly it's a defect that is affecting some of the caps but there's the question of what to do about it since they were made in Italy and the factory has shut down for the summer and no-one is there.
We can definitely make sure that any second batch has more attention spent to ensure that the elastic is adequately secured, but for the existing caps the volunteer effort to re-secure the elastic is probably the best thing for a quick resolution.
If any caps have serious defects beyond the elastic then I still have a couple that I can use to replace those.

Discount on rerun in a different colour?

This.
They should at least give you replacement hats for each defective one...

Picked mine up from the Poste Restante in Geneva yesterday - thanks for airmailing it! Currently resting for a day by Lac Leman before hitting the Alps - hopefully the cap will spur the legs on!

Glad that one got there. Was wondering whether it would be there in time, and whether it would even arrive. Glad it did

No problem - Swiss efficiency at it's best...I think the woman at the counter was surprised when I tore the packet open there and then and put it on though!

Yes, something is up. Clearly you are not stretching the truth.
it snapped when I was just putting it on, I've worn quite a lots of caps, and the only caps that I've managed to snap are the Rapha BFF one after 3 months, and the LFGSS one after a couple days worth of use.
something's up with the elastic.

Let's not make snap decisions here

Mine made a bit of a "crack" noise when I first put it on but the elastic hasn't snapped (yet).
Wore it on the commute for the first time today and definitely felt a sense of responsibility to be extra-courteous. LFGSS represent.

Hah. No, really, I didn't even shout my usual "know your place, woman" while cutting up female cyclists.

So out of months worth of designs, months worth of sourcing and checking samples, and months worth of waiting, you end up with plain block capital initials and shit quality control thay you're now having to repair yourselves?
-
• #947

Nice attitude, some people actually spent time organising it so why shit all over it?
-
• #949
And after months of organising and waiting and hyping up how great the caps are gonna be, the caps have shit quality control...I see the funny side.
Sorry if that hurts your feelings danny boy, but on a forum that now thrives on piss taking and slagging things off i can't help but see the humour in it.

It doesn't hurt my feelings at all Scott, I was nothing to do with the process.
The people who did it put time and effort in on the side around their day-to-day, it's not their job and so obviously there were bound to be teething problems.
I just thought it was pretty uncharitable of you to piss all over it..
oh, and the forum isn't ALL about slagging stuff off.. there are still plenty of generous people willing to do good things for others.
Received and understood.
All the samples I saw of this type of hat had the elastic showing slightly at one end so just assumed it was ok.
If anyone wants me to sew theirs up then send me a PM. I'm away this weekend so will need drop off and collection at Old St. or SE22 next week onwards.
