Wicksie - Sorry, you've misunderstand something there.
My ideas is to put up part/all of the money for the initial run. Caps sell, I get my money back, rest goes to forum and then I'm out of the monetary loop. No profit for me. No list management until the caps are here. Much easier.

Speak to shinscar if you want an idea of how it can be done.

Ah simples. It's been said a few times about keeping money which I thought would be odd.
Will stay out of it now.Very pleased it's all going ahead though!
Now, what about a jersey? ;) -

I don't go to drinks either, but I can make my way to one in order to get one, can't be that difficult on a bike? AND you get to be sociable and have a pint.
OK Ok.. jeez! Does that mean I actually have to meet some people from the forum other than the people I already know?

Personally I think there's got to be some incentive for the bods who are putting in the cash to get something out of it. If the Forum and BDW and the manufacturers get paid why shouldn't those who stump up the cash in the first place. Once the caps break even, having paid the 20% to Forum and however much BDW is owed for design skills, I'm of the opinion that those who stumped up cash can do whatever they like with it, give it to forum, give it to lcef, keep forselves and buy beer/drugs/cakes with it.
If you get nothing but hassle and whinging and stress for doing it, and no monetary reward why put yourself forward for it again, how will anything else forum related get done again.
just my tuppence worth. If my maths is shaky or I'm forgetting some already agreed financial arrangement, forgive me.. -

I'll lob in for pre-order if it's needed. Not into the strapline but hey, I only know two people off here... and one of them is pistanator, so not sure I have any kingmaker rights on cap decisions!
-
• #208
my colouring in is a way of buying the forum a drink so no allowance needs to be made for payment
It is a risk and a ballache fronting up for stuff to get made so as long as the forum get's it's slice I reckon owt else is up to the organisers
I reckon you'd be looking at a £10 customer price for a quality cap
-
• #209
Seems like a a fair price, I'd be interested in black and maybe blue

My take is that: Velocio is not paid for this. Hippy is not paid for his help as mergemaster. I will do my bit for free as well. That it all.

Agreed it's the individual's prerogative innit.
List?
How does one go about that, should it be in regions? -

Chill, young padwan... It will happen...

How does one go about that, should it be in regions?Probably easiest would be to do a poll by region (North, South, East, West, Post) just to get an idea for numbers. But that is some time off would be my guess.
Any don't put up with teenslain's patronising comments. Just argue "track not tarck" over the TRACK day naming schemes; that flusters him every single time.

I'll cover the costs. Numbers are low and these aren't expensive items. So forum coffers can cough up... we have a few months in the bank and potentially profit will add another... so money is easy peasy, no-one need take the risk, the forum can.

So shall it be written, so shall it be done.
BDW - Monday? Where are you? We will chat, yes?
-
• #217
Shouldn't we open a 'contest', or at least admission for designs, and then vote?
Seems fair, not as huge as the t-shirts, but it should be for us, by us style, amirite? -

I'm already potatochopping!

nuknow... there's not enough units. Open competitions are fine to produce tons of stuff, but the market for caps isn't proven.
I'm thinking primarily the black BDW cap with London under the beak, in a run of about 100 or 150 if TFG/Fullcity/LMNH or others want to take a couple.
If the forum funds it, then the forum gets everything save for a per-unit designer fee (BDW) and a per-unit organiser fee (Wicksie?).
This will help with the beer fund (which reminds me I still need to actually book the Dunwich coach).

Happy to work with Wicksie as co-organiser. Just sayin'

I was trying to avoid 'London' on the underside because of 'dis

To be fair, cycling caps are a bit comedy to start with.... you realise you all look ridiculous?
I'll take a white and a black please.
So people would take money for distribution rather than give it to the forum which is the whole point anyway?
I appreciate it will be a ball ache, but if you don't want to do it then don't.
