Transworld has acquired a book which promises to lift the lid on doping in the world of professional cycling, *The Secret Race: Inside the Hidden World of the Tour de France: Doping, Cover-ups, and Winning at All Costs. *
The book, written by former Olympic gold medalist Tyler Hamilton with author Daniel Coyle, was acquired by publishing director Doug Young with editorial director Giles Elliott, who bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Denise Cronin at Random House Inc.
It will be published on 20th September 2012, with the publisher saying it will "offer the first deeply detailed window into one of the defining sports stories of our time".
"The narrative centres on Tyler Hamilton, longtime teammate of Lance Armstrong and former world number one ranked rider, and seven-time Tour rider, who spent ten years at the center of it all-going from amateur racer to hero to key witness in one of the biggest doping cases in sports history."
Tyler has given Coyle more than 200 hours of interviews and trips to key Tour locations in Spain and France, with Coyle also speaking to his teammates and independent sources.

  • I'm sure it'll be wishy washy bullshit like most other cycling exposé..

  • Request Olympic win to be expunged, drumming up publicity, publish a book.

"I'm a cheat and I want your money, now buy my book"

  • well, still better than Prance Pharmstrong's 'I say I'm not a cheat, but everyone knows that I am, now give my foundation your money and I'll pass on a minority to the cancer sufferers and take the lions share for it's real purpose which is fuelling my private jet, and ensuring i have enough money to fight these doping charges indefinitely whilst providing a bit of good PR in the process. Also, buy my books, training plans, bikes, clothes, helmets, glasses, and suck up images of my smug face everywhere gloating over all the suckers who didn't bribe the UCI and got caught while you're at it'

I don't like TH, it's pretty cynical, but I still think he's done a brave and good thing in speaking so candidly about his cheating, and about this era in cycling in general. I will happily buy and read that book, and he is welcome to the $2 royalty he'll get for it.

  • Transworld?

Has Hamilton discovered that his 'missing twin' was female?

  • "speaking so candidly about his cheating"

Do you have a copy of the manuscript? Until I hear it's actually interesting and not just him trying to justify himself or rub Lance's nose in it then I'll avoid.

  • he was pretty candid in the interview he gave... maybe that was just a teaser ;)

  • Ok, I won't write it off just yet then.

  • Best excuse since the phantom twin in my mother's womb?

  • Are you reading the TT forum too?

  • Do I look like a cunt?

  • Don't answer that.

  • How the fuck is having a fag and a glass of wine on holiday news?

    FFS

  • That fag looks very much like a spliff!

    The comments.

    Oh my.

Oh do fuck off with your sanctimonious outrage.

He's holding an unlit rollup, which may or may not be a joint. I'm assuming whoever took the photo was hoping for pay dirt when Wiggins actually smoked it but seeing as that photo doesn't seem to exist, I'll continue to assume this is the gutter press and the latest manifestation of tall poppy syndrome.

  • Looks like Johnny Vaughters dropped for a little Q&A over at the clinic, Sure this isn't what they wanted to hear but he did say this:

The Dr. Leinders thing is disturbing, for sure. Not knowing him, I can't comment on his current attitude towards things. I don't know.

2009? Wiggo did not dope. You can say I'm wrong, but I'll stick with my statement on this, that I've made over and over...

2012 Sky? My opinion (not statement) is that they are not doping, based on VAM, power values, and information we have from Wiggins in 2009. Brad didn't ride much faster in 2012 than 2009, he just was more mentally consistent, the parcours suited him more, and he did not have the same competitors.

Again: My Opinion.... I'm sure we will all find out if it's right or wrong with time. As of today, i am just saying this is what I think. It may be proven wrong.

  • Wiggins didn't get faster - everyone else got slower. I'll go with that until proved otherwise

  • tall poppy syndrome.
You mean he's on the skag too?

  • You've seen his physique and you have to ask? Sheesh.

  • He's holding an unlit rollup, which may or may not be a joint.

You can get an adverse analytical finding from passive toking. If I were in Sky's shoes, I'd be giving Bradley a bollocking for being within a mile of anybody smoking dope just for that risk, never mind the potential reputational damage.

  • Agreed. I say we burn him.

But stay away from the smoke. Don't want any adverse analytic findings.

Probably not a spliff though, more likely a roll-up

  • Probably not a spliff though, more likely a roll-up being smoked by the guy next to him. In that picture it doesnt even look like his hand

people should lay off Bradders. After the season hes had i would forgive him (not of course that its any of my business) if he went on a 2 week coke mdma and booze binge and got kicked out of all the nightclubs on the Costa del Sol for getting lairy with all the bouncers.
