Astana seemed to have some doper in them, including Alberto back in 2010.

No-one saw that one coming, did they?
I thought they might have just ridden anyway, leaving the MPCC in tatters.
This manoeuvring must put Astana just the inside of fence when it comes to deciding which teams teams are morally legit and deserve continuation of their WT status?

^Cookson has stated this is the case. Possibly.

Things go from bad to worse for Astana - their stagiare (pro cycling's version of an intern) Ilya Davidenok has tested positive for steroids, their third doping positive in as many months.
The UCI have requested that the World Tour licensing commission, an independent body that audits the World Tour teams and awards licenses, reviews Astana's existing license.

This has been posted on facebook/twitter today, but it's from July.
"If you’re looking for definitive answers, I can save you the trouble and say there are none, so you needn’t continue reading. It’s also quite technical, because I want to paint some scenarios. But if you’re looking to understand the range of possibilities and generate a few hypotheses for the future, then let’s see where it takes us."
"The question then is why not also for Nibali, Froome and Quintana in 2013 and 2014? The comparisons are the same, the data says a similar thing – plausible, but at the limit, and comparable to doped riders."

A lot of assumptions flying around there!

What's the testing regime in distance running like?
It strikes me as if the marathon record has started coming down pretty quickly and given the large sums of money top runners are paid to appear in the highest profile marathons there is plenty of incentive to cheat.
Is that too cynical a view?

After the way Gunderson went after anyone who did speak, I'm not surprised.
I completely disagree with his views on not going after historical cases though. That's a fairly standard old doper's stance.

Twas ever thus. new era or not
How many new eras have there been in cycling? -

He's bending the truth a lot there, isn't he?
The blood test taken 48 hours after the biological passport, had not "returned to baseline levels".

I love the fact he's either been really hard done by or is a sociopath. No middle ground possible.
