  • If you want NE beginners, that usually happens on Saturday mornings at London Fields (but check this thread)

Feel free to come past the main NE polo sessions, Tuesday & Thursday evenings at Mitchison Road, Islington, and say hi, try out some bikes etc.

  • I've updated the OP with Norths info.
Is that the right place on the map?

  • Cheers chaps, much obliged. I've read through the OP and will keep checking this thread for Saturday mornings, as well as popping to one of your Islington sessions. Thanks for the helpful welcome!

  • Out tonight, have to catch up with work. If you guys are doing 1:1 or 2:2, wouldn't Newt be a better place in terms of safety?

  • im for polo to night 730 il be there

  • in after 7

  • so where(if anywhere) are people playing tonight? peckham? is there gonna be anyone with spare mallets?

  • So what's actually going on tonight? Any beginners out? Sorry, couldn't make it. I'm not sure about Saturday at london fields this time since it's the Easter weekend. I won't be there. But if anyone wants to pick up the loaner just tell me Friday latest and i'll hand over the keys, or Beagle knows as well. Sat next week should be on in any ways...

  • I think everyone got rained out, not too sure if anyone went.

  • na didnt bother cos i didnt think anyone else was going.

  • Got easter family shizz on sat but up for polo in peckham on Tues, if there's a loaner available...?

The delights of the Westway over Peckham have been bought to my attention so I reckon I'm going to ch-ch-ch-check the Westway out next week instead.

  • How tall are you again? The loner is quite large, if I go you could use mine, it's a medium pomp, but I have SPDs, so that might not be ideal.

  • I am wee - about 5ft3 in sidis. Ta for offer though - reckon I'm going to check out West London this weds : )

  • You might be Ok with mine. Will let you know Mon eve.

  • FAO Beginners:

The West London sessions happening on Wednesday at Westway Sports Centre for the next seven weeks are primarily aimed at beginners.

Sean from Oxford runs the sessions. He doesnt post on here much, but he has built TWO excellent loaner bikes in conjunction with the crew at Bikeworks in Ladbroke Grove (http://www.bikeworks.org.uk/). These are stored at the Westway and are available every Wednesday.

There are mallets and balls available too - so all you have to do is turn up.

It is a large court with a smooth surface, with floodlights until 10pm.
Probably the best court in London, so it is an excellent place to start learning.

Afterwards, you can bring your bike onto the Circle & District Lines at Latimer Road station, I've done it twice now with no hassle from Underground staff, they are very decent about it. Its good to have this option, even if it doesnt get you all the way home it takes a large chunk of the journey off.

There are usually a few experienced players at the sessions, to help you out and give you a loan of a bike that is more suited to polo.

(Not trying to take people away from Peckham - just giving people an option to come to a session that might be closer to them if they live north or west).

Check the last page of http://www.lfgss.com/thread14038.html to see who is going - but every week so far there have been six or seven non-forumers showing up, so you can be pretty much guaranteed there will be people there every week for the next seven weeks, online list or not.

  • Wicksie, maybe you could copy that in the OP, with the dates that Westway will be available? (from now until May 23rd)

  • Done matey.

  • cheers blud
