I have sympathy for those stranded overseas, or here for that matter. But on the other hand, five days without the daily Hercules a couple of hundred metres over my house into Lynham at 6am and 10.30pm has been rather nice.

• #203
You get Hercules flying over your house? bloody hell mate!

Right on the main flightpath to RAF Lyneham. it's even worse if they're training for oanding approaches because they fly over, loop around and do it again every twenty minutes for hours. Can really ruin a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Whilst the cat's away. Souths tonight? :P
Unlikely - it's been a weekend of adventure and extreme alcoholism. The sofa and the snooker feels about right for tonight.
Maybe I'll pop along for a last orders. I expect you'll be early doors though eh?

Not a chance. I've got to be home in time to put my daughter to bed tonight.
-
• #209
And you claim that I have lame excuses?
Fatherhood, pah!

Pathetic isn't it? She's four months old, you'd have thought she'd have learnt to put herself to bed by now.
-
• #211
Or at least get a round in down at Souths. Can she even do a fucking skid yet?
(cue nappy gag)

Northern airports expected to reopen tomorrow morning covering an area north of the Blackpool - Teeside line.
Many frustrated and exhausted tourists to the UK will now have to contend with learning a new language if they want to get home before the end of the week.

Statement on Icelandic volcanic eruption: Monday April 19, 1530
The volcanic eruption has reduced and the volcano is not currently emitting ash to altitudes that will affect the UK. Assuming there are no further significant ash emissions we are now looking at a continuously improving situation.
Based on the latest information from the Met Office, NATS advises that the restrictions currently in place across UK controlled airspace will remain in place until 0700 (local time) tomorrow, Tuesday.
From 0700 (local time) tomorrow, Tuesday, Scottish airspace will be open, and south to a line between Teesside and Blackpool. Mainland Scottish airports will be open.
This is a dynamic and changing situation and is therefore difficult to forecast beyond 0700 local; however, the latest Met Office advice is that the contaminated area will continue to move south with the possibility that restrictions to airspace above England and Wales, including the London area, may be lifted later tomorrow (Tuesday).
We will continue to monitor Met Office information and review our arrangements in line with that. We will advise further arrangements at approximately 2100 (local time), today.
It is now for airports and airlines to decide how best to utilise this opportunity. Passengers should contact their airlines to find out how this will affect their travel plans.

Also from the Daily Fail a quote from Heathrow regarding a night flight service.
A source at Heathrow told the Mail: 'At between 6pm and 7pm tomorrow night, we will have a controlled opening of Heathrow.
'Every door of every terminal will be manned by police and airport security. Unless you have a print-out of a document which proves you are on a flight leaving on Tuesday night, you will not be allowed in the terminal. There will be an airline representative on each door of each terminal. Each passenger will be ticked off from a list before being allowed to enter.
We're obviously concerned about being swamped and that is why we have ramped up security.
'If police and security cannot deal with the deluge of passengers turning up, the airport will be closed again. This is bound to get fucked up. I predict a Kiaser Chief.

This thread has been 'dormant' for a few hours. Breaking news on the BBC "A new ash cloud spreading towards the UK is causing uncertainty over the reopening of some airspace"
This could go on for years couldn't it?
Whilst the cat's away. Souths tonight? :P
