  • You're all wrong, muh ha hah.

32 hours and 28 minutes of registration time left.

No Conos? That would be a real shame gals...

  • Sarah is a housewife now, no more polo for her

  • too busy lady gardening.

  • is it one day or two day?

  • Register anyway... if you can't play I'll give you the £25 myself and tweak the circle, easy. Conos for the win.

(We'll be playing polo on both days, the tourney may be one day or two, sorry to be vague, it depends on a few things at the moment!)

  • Is that the same Dublin team as ehbpc 2009?!

  • Registration closes at midnight tonight people... this is your friendly reminder bump!

  • OKay, yeah Los Coños want to register. (how?)

Do you think you'll get more people interested after Geneva? Sorry, I am not sure how widely this has been advertised outside of this forum?

We should let the south polo players know tonight who don't come on here... reckon JP will be up for entering riders of naam.

  • ok done, but havent paid yet.

We can house a team at ours - but first priority to those who have housed us before, & if they want to stay deep south! :)

  • This has to be 2 days now.

  • by august will be +60 teams

  • Awesome, 45+ is going to be great.

Yep, currently we're thinking two days, circle format (seeded) first day, hopefully 6 games each. Second day will be a double elim for the top 12 or 16 (maybe more), possibly with throw-ins on the second court for those who didn't make the cut. 10 minute games for the first day at the moment, longer for the second day.

Feel free to have a banter on any of the above, all subject to change, but you'll know the format and see the circle well before the tourney.

    Cheers all.

by august will be +60 teams

We'll see, the idea behind this tournament is inclusiveness, so I doubt we'd turn people away... if anyone asks tell them to get in touch ASAP regarding late registration, etc (no guarantees).

  • Maybe cap it at 48, 56, or 64 teams? Some multiple of 8, so then you just have quarters/semis/finals with the group stage winners? Like the world cup, but with no second round of 16.
I dont know what a 'circle' format is, googling it didnt enlighten me...

And possibly leave the remaining spaces open for teams from outside London to register, up until a week beforehand, then open it up again to Londoners?
Obviously people who live here can easily make arrangements to enter, but foreigners have to organise transport, accomodation, finances etc, and might not have got their shit together yet.

  • Circle format is where each team is in a unique group. It is devised by putting all of the teams in a circle and each to team will play x number of teams on either side.

  • Kev, the London Open will never be a capped tournament, hence the name, it's all about inclusivity.

The circle format allows us to accommodate any number of teams.

Registration is officially closed, but we will still try to accommodate any teams who want to come and take part. (The reason for registration was to work out budgets and tourney mechanics well in advance.)

Emmett, I find it easier to think of the circle as players playing the 2 (or more) teams to the right of them in the circle... this then equates to 4 (or more) games by the time you follow this pattern all the way around the circle - this may just be easier in my head though.

  • I think we should try and adaptive format, I'll have a chat with you about it tonight Jono.

  • Hi guys!
I wonder would it be possible to join your ranks and and play in the London Open. I've just organised polish team and I hope it won't be to late to qualify us for the tournament?
