I thought the Crossrail project was the reason the buildings above TCR tube have been flattened and why all the works, fences and shit are there which is what is causing the bottleneck and the situation which would have led to car being on the wrong side of the road a bit further up. The taped off, police everywhere bit I saw started right outside TCR tube and McDonalds today......I may well be completely wrong

BBC says it was a collision between two buses
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8621087.stm
I spoke to the Evening Standard a couple of hours ago, they said that they did not think that a car was involved.
LBC radio booked us to talk with Nick Ferrari tomorrow morning at 8 but have since cancelled because the Mayor's transport advisor Kulveer Ranger wants to talk instead. -

a one off accident maybe, unlike the 15 or so hgv accidents that we should be outraged by and be targetting

Pretty much, bus drivers are generally pretty good amongst cyclists in London.

I get your point but the principal is the same, ultimately it all comes down to the management of the roads. I do not know the full details and so should not make assumptions however my initial, and probably too emotional reaction is that the area is a fuck up and could be managed better by banning / re-routing one or two of the forms of transport, be that peds, cyclists, taxi's or buses, especially for such a long term project.

Awful news. Bus drivers are generally quite careful as well. I feel especially bad for the family not even having been informed yet.

I was on the way past the site at about 6pm and was stopped by the police line so had to wheel my bike across and the aftermath looked really horrific :(
didn't know it was a cyclist but had a sinking feeling i would find out here :(

My condolences and feelings to her family.
RIP lady cyclist. -

R.I.P. lady cyclist.
I only wish one day, that we as a forum, could get together several thousand cyclists to cycle to Parliament in an official protest. This really needs to stop.
No blame on the bus driver, but we need to totally overhaul the perceptions of all drivers, and get MP's to bring in a Dutch type system of legal protection that is biased towards cyclists.
Condolences to the lady's family. This will be so hard for them.

I work on dean st and have changed my route since the crossrail works started.
only enough room for a bus and easy to get squeezed either side. not sure who designed works area but they didn't have cycles in mind..
R.I.P. young lady
Jesus, I cycled past there at 13:20 ambulance police etc has to find alternative route, i go down that bit of Oxford Street 4-6 times a day. Including just now coming home, was still a mess.
RIP Lady Cyclist....thoughts are with her friends and family.
