  • "Handicap sprints haven’t favoured the scratch riders over the first three week’s as they haven’t been able to catch the riders for the win! Anthony Bristow, taking all his advantages, easily won over Scarlet (sic) Parker and Kieran Laurie."

Bollocks - he won by a tyre's width, and was convinced he'd lost when we spoke afterwards.

  • where was this wroted?

  • Not bugs already!!?

I thought they came out later in the year. HH is becoming a dangerous place, I had a bad allergic reaction to the stuff I swept off the track on Monday, lasted a full 24 hours.

I got fuggin bitten watching the racing at Crystal Palace on Tuesday night by one of those beasts. They seem to be all over South London now :(

  • Maybe he found it easy to beat you by inches!

  • Tyre's width is all you need

  • Glad to see someone looks at the site. I didn't do the write up btw. I would've at least spelt your name correctly.

  • I didn't think it was your prose, JC.

    who did it?

  • My wife made a disparaging remark based on the use of a redundant apostrophe (you think I'm a pedant).

Anyway, 1 more metre and I'd have had it. Something to aim for next time :)

  • did he start in front of you though?

  • No, I let him and a few others come past (a little too lackadaisically, I'll admit it) as I didn't want to repeat the solo 450m TT of the heat. He zoomed off, and I was left with about a 20m gap to close down from the 200m line. Ate up most of that pretty quickly, but then my jaded legs started to decelerate - not as much as his, but too much FTW.

He apologised for drifting up the track as I came alongside, but I hadn't noticed, TBH.

    who did it?

    Our resident mystery columnist.

    Pen name, "DC"

  • That was a good night. Really good to do win-out and scratch instead of the usual points and devil. WOuld be ace to keep mixing it up like that, wasnt looking forward to the devil, and then it didnt come. Yay! WHo does like the devil anyway?

  • I don't. Possibly in a theological context, but not on the track.

  • Its good when you win. But thats it. The win-out is a strange backwards devil. I like it.

  • The win-out was tactically interesting, do you go eyeballs out for the first couple of sprints or wait and strike when the moment is right? I knew I had no chance in a sprint last night so chose the latter and got, I think, fourth.

It was a tough night of racing last night, my legs are very sore this morning, but I enjoyed it a lot. Shame I didn't finish the final scratch race but it was fast and furious from the off thanks to Brian, Symon and James.

wait until all the people you can't beat in a sprint have already gone (or at least contested the previous lap so they are tired)

  • That's kind of what I did. It earned me a whole 0.0 of a track league point though I think!

  • I hope you got more than that because me and Tom were battling it out for the point of a point after! (well, I was battling it out - no doubt he was just biding his time til he got me on the line)... it was good to do different stuff, I agree. Apart from the groundhog day that is the women & over 50s' sprint.

  • Oh I was definitely battling. Was good to finally have the whole 20k too. Forgot how much I like that!

Vote with your feet on that one.

Is Simon Schmidt allowed in yet?

  • I opted to cycle home and crash into both a Range Rover and Porsche in one ridiculous move en-route :(
Got home only to discover there was a power cut. Complete evening fail

  • Tom P (whats his forum name on here?)beat Schmidt in the handicap sprint yesterday!

  • I opted to cycle home and crash into both a Range Rover and Porsche in one ridiculous move en-route :(

    What's wrong with that?

I would only start worrying when you crash into reliant robins or mobility scooters

  • no thread this time mike?
