• Oh, I was confused because a DP roadie friend said they were heading to the track tonight...

  • this is (yet) another cycling thing I just don't get. Why would you want to ride around a track on a road bike? Why? What pleasure can there be in it? Get a hamster ball, track/roadie toadie. That's very un-understanding, isn't it? Sorry...

  • Triathletes need the cornering practise

  • Is that Clive?

I'd suspect it's mostly because a lot of people crave riding on closed circuits as opposed to on roads and streets with TWAFFIC owing to a combination of safety fears and not having a track bike (and being too lazy/unwilling to get one).

  • ^^Ha!

  • Is that Clive?

To be fair, he has come a long way since then! it was those half-Iron man things that got Clive into cycling

  • Nope, went to the track for the road bike session.

It was nice, actually. Would have been great to have had a training buddy there tho, if any of you want to come out next tuesday.

It's a good chance to push yourself.

  • What was it like Nhatt? did Dave shout at anyone?

(It's not a proper session if he didn't)

  • No, nice guy ran it.

It did come over to lecture me....about me doing the right things. It was kind of confusing.

It was a bit weird that not that many people were super friendly, but that's roadies for you.

  • I am trying to persuade Camilla to go down on Sunday. If she comes, she will need someone to show her how to remove (and replace brakes) and change her gear as her useless father is useless. Is there likely t be anyoe who could give her a hand. She is more likely to learn from someone else other than me and I am mechanically inept and am more likely to screw up her brakes and ruin the thread on her wheel.

  • I'm booked up for the next few Sundays but would be interested in coming down to the ladies sessions. Will they still be going next month?

I will admit, I am a complete novice - what do I need to bring, what can I hire/borrow and will there be anyone there who can help me improve on doubtlessly shameful technique?

  • Postponed for the meantime.

Starting up as monthly sessions soon.

  • Next one this Sunday, the 9th May!

  • what time does it start? 4 again? time to start juggling work shifts....

  • I'm going to pop along on sunday and although I've no idea what to expect, I'm pretty excited. I am a complete novice. At souths on Monday the lovely Jenny told me I just turn up at 4pm, pay six quid and do the induction. She also said I can hire a bike for a few extra bob - is this true??? I don't have drops, but may be able to beg/borrow steal some for the arvo if bike hire is a hassle.

    Yep.

Yay! See you tomorrow. I should have my new bike to ride!

  • I'm in.

I couldn't hack the wind and rain this morning.

  • Bike built but struck down by virus. (me)

I shall manage to ride round the track at some point this season...!

  • That was fun! Defs keen on doing it again. Just need to get some drops and learn how to ride with a 'medium sized dog space'. Thanks for the induction RPM. I will be back.

I am not a fan of this dog sized space. Especially when it is more like the size of a small gerbil.

The universe conspires to make it impossible for me to attend anything, ever. And when I do, it rains. Women's sessions look good. OH WELL (sad face)
