the swimming pool was designed to have the seating removed afterwards
pool building will look nice once the square boxes ( wings ) have been reomoved
i actually thought it was finished when they put up the central bit then they started on the extra bits it looked quite nice
white elephant it'll provide a wonderful place to piss for 1,000's of newhams finest primary shcool kids and some of the not so fine grown ups too ... i'm looking forward to mounting the top of the 50m diving before before i eventually chicken out and climb back down the steps
there'll be a world championship swimming event in there in the next 5 years and all those who missed out on olympic tickets can come along for that -

2 Track Cycling
1 night in a travel lodge in Heathrow
4 athletics
3 synchronised swimming
6 days of being a London ambassador.Does anyone one want to swap some baby sitting for a night in a Heathrow travel lodge?

No, I'm going on holiday while the Olympics are on.
I applied for track cycling and got none and then realised that there will be events at the velodrome after the Olympics and that the crowds at those events will be knowledgeable people with an interest in cycling rather than a bunch of bored executives on a piss up. While is is good that the Olympics are a way for people who know nothing about the sport to learn about it, I am happy to wait until Rollapaluza organise a London 6 at the Pringle or something similar.

Similar stuff on countryfile a few weeks back, National Trust warden seemed genuinely concerned that the grasslands would take years to recover from hoards of spectators wanting to watch the race. They seemed to come to the same conclusion as CW, great route, wrong hill. Should have picked a less pretty but more accessible route.

^ They should have done their fucking homework! from reading that article it would appear that they had no idea that there would be an issue holding it there.

CW this week has a page or two about it.
It sounds like Surrey County Council are a bunch of misinformed anti-cycling fuckheads too.
Really? If this is true...

... I would rather watch it on TV than take part in fucking up the area.

This ^.
Why should the desires of a few thousand cycling fans case irreperable damage to an area of special scientific interest?
You can question the wisdom of using Box Hill in the first place, but let's not fuck it up for the sake of one bike race.
