Aaaaagghhh, missed the booking deadline, stupidly had no idea that tickets would be allocated a year in advance?!
The only events I'm really keen to see are track and boxing. Any ideas? Can you sign up to help out and get access that way?

The GB team ruined it for us basically by winning so much previously. True blooded track bike owning folk getting squezed out. Applicants should have to answer what crankset Hoy uses before geting a ticket.
This modern trend of fixies riders ruined it for us. True hard-riding club and track cyclists, with dozens of season in their legs are getting squeezed out by fixie skidders who think that being able to track stand gives them some kind of kinship with Chris Hoy. Applicants should have to hand over at least three race licenses to get tickets.

I'm not suprised you missed it, there was hardly any publicity or huge billboards or newspaper articles or rolling news coverage of the closing date for ticket applications!
I think that once they draw lots for the tickets there is some option to return ones you do not want or need then they are put up for sale again at a later date. I am not sure whether it will be another lottery or previous applicants will be given priority but keep an eye on their website...

havent checked but there are weeks and weeks of transactions going on,
some actaury guy was on the radio today who has put 36 grand down,
and he reckons that hes got an evens chance of getting anything! -

Joking aside, it would actually be nice to see grass-roots coaches, volunteers and participants be given an allocation.....in all sports.

....and local residents.

Seriously why?
Is it the grass roots that are paying for the Olympics? I'm sure the world championships are almost entirely watched by the grass roots. The Olympics is a chance to increase the number of people interested enough in a sport to call themselves grassroots!

Seriously why?
As a reward for hours of unpaid work and dedication?
I meant grass-roots as in at grass roots level, I said all sports because I meant "all sports" including soccer and more the more popular sports....they all rely on keen and dedicated volunteers at some point, whether the youngsters and amateurs they foster become champions or not.
By far the biggest audience will be on TV, new interest for cycling will not be affected by who gets tickets and interest generated outside the grass-roots of any sport will be identical no matter whose bums are on the seats....
I'd much prefer to see the Dave Creaseys of this world (RIP) sitting front row than a corporate knob, and I'd be interested to know just how little the ticket revenue for the Pringle will contribute to the overall budget anyway....

When do we find out if we haz tickets, the email last week said money would start being debited from our accounts from today, the 16th?
Also agree totally with Winston.
I think the ticket process was kind of nonsense, I've applied to volunteer for the olympics as well, so hopefully will get to see something at least!

Am no longer sad. Have just realised what I want to see will be far better on the telly than in an arena where I may not even be able to see that much. Plus I won't have my card hammered (or not) for random seats that I've been put into a lottery for.
Surely there must have been a better system for allocation that could have been used? The events I want to see will be viewed on the telly, with beers, on a comfy sofa, and it won't cost me a penny. Result :)

Has anyone seen any activity on their accounts?
Nothing's come out of mine yet so it's either a) it's taking a while to update , which is usual or b) I've got bugger all.
Does anyone know if it's a 'big bang' approach and all the money goes out on the 16th or are they doing it over the next month?
-

Could take up to a month
-
• #191
no debits as yet but i live in hope

And you can still apply for Olympic tickets from there?
-

Wasn't from yesterday that they'll start to take payment, i.e. over the next couple of weeks?

I've been partially successful. No luck with the velodrome but I've got 35,000 tickets to see West Ham v Doncaster.

6 days later and has anyone been billed yet? I just asked round a few people in my office who I know applied and so far no one has been debited.
-
• #196
Nothing yet. Been checking daily. Seems primitive this. Surely they could be more specific about when this will happen.

Nothing for me either although I only applied for 3 events so I'm not holding my breath!
-
• #199
I wonder if they'll communicate faliure to get any tickets or if we're expected to wait the whole month on tenterhooks

srsly,
the odds of getting what you want are soooooooooo high its a joke
So long as I see one of Australia's gold medals before I get my burger, I'll be happy.
