Carrying that would weigh you down even more.
Shifting bronchitis and tonsilitis have been bigger priorities than weight :(
Looking forward to my workplace risk assessment next week. I'm going to rant my tits off.

Damo: In terms of Canaries, you're talking Tenerife, right?
As far as I have read this is a great climbing location. Teide is highest mountain of Spain at 3700m or so, and the roads there go up and down. Also, while we're at it ... maybe we need some UK based preparation beforehand.
Could look into the Peak District, the Brecon Beacons, the Lakes or Wales or so for a long weekend, in order to get some nice climbs in that are a bit longer than leith hill? -

You're fat and out of shape aren't you? :P
I hear that having kids tends to do that to people. ;)

wales is appealing. and i agree. doing leith hill and ranmore a couple of times is not the only preparation i'd like to do before attempting euroclimbs. -

You can't replicate climbs in the Alps here in the UK so I'd save your money. You can train for the effort but, oddly, this is best done on the flat, i.e. do a 30-60 minute session (with 15 min warm up and warm down) at what I'd call time trial pace, i.e. as fast as you can sustain for the time.

Well, what's wrong with cycling in nice british landscape that gives you a change over the usual bits? I for once need to see more of Britain. I loved the lakes, the climbs there are brutal, the air is fresh and the sheep are everywhere.
I do wanna get [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/100-Greatest-Cycling-Climbs-Cyclists/dp/0711231206"]this[/ame] and tick off a couple more on the list it contains.

Isle of man would be nice.
I was thinking the other day that End to end would be great as well. I bet after that we can climb anything. Wouldn't be just a weekend though.

** Start times 08:30-09:30 – 1st come 1st start basis**
therefore I think we need to be in Leatherhead for 9.these are the options:
08:02 London Waterloo [WAT] Leatherhead [LHD] 08:45 0h 43m08:08 London Victoria [VIC] Leatherhead [LHD] 08:58 0h 50m
08:32 London Waterloo [WAT] Leatherhead [LHD] 09:15 0h 43m
-marcomtrain station is 1 mile from start point.
I just call and talk with them about the starting time, the say that the 9:15 arrive in Leatherhead will be more then fine actually better for avoid a possible train congestion...

Yeah you poor bastard :) Take pics!
The best bit is you get a glass of Prosecco handed to you as you finish.
