I just sold my 60D and bought a GF2 instead. Its ace for portability, more than good enough quality for 90% of shots even with the stock 14 and 14-42 lenses. Not got the moneys at the moment to get into the old lenses and adaptors scene just yet but definitely will as soon as i can.
If you had a mk2 then you would definitely see the drop in quality but compared to a mk1 then i think it is a very good option.
I would keep the lenses though unless you really need the money as you would regret having to buy them again if you ever go back to a DSLR.
Yeah I suppose the L glass could even be an investment. At worst their value shouldn't drop much.
This is where I wish I'd stuck to Nikon , could get an F100 or F5 or something and have a way of getting some use out of the lenses. Canon have nothing in the way of a film eos body that really grabs me. -

rent em?
I make little enough from these things as it is, don't need rental fees eating up more money!

That NEX7 is pretty ridiculous. Some things for u43 to aim for..
It's also hella expensive.
There's some really nice m4/3 options out there but I just can't face going to an even smaller sensor, especially if it's got quite a high megapixel count.Full frame NEX with optical viewfinder with focus confirmation, I'd sell everything for one of those.

Mmmeh...it's alright but a tatty one sets you back about the same as a mint F100 would, there's a lot more minty F100s about as they are a newer camera and for me, having just held one and admittedly never shot it, it just isn't quite as nice.

I have an F80 with battery grip I could be tempted to part with if any one is interested?

I have an F100, it's lovely ;)
Do it

I had one.
Made loads when I sold it on.
Still regretted it instantly.
Only way I can see me getting another would be if used D3/D700 prices drop significantly when the D4/D800 are released. Then I'd be tempted to go back to one body and a couple lenses for digital stuff and an F100 or similar for film needs.

I've got two Bowens Esprit 125 heads and a set of Elinchome Skyports for sale. Anyone interested? I'm thinking £150 for the heads and £150 for the Skyports. Or £275 for the lot.

new nikon 1 system announced. chip is tiny and i'm not convinced that's a good idea.
my gf1 turned up today. never liked small cameras but the one thing that's impressed me is the speed of the af and lack of shutter delay. shame it's not got 2 thumbwheels but i like the double press switching between shutter/aperture.
just wish the display has a mode where it mimics the exposure (ie gets darker/brighter) if it has i haven't found it yet.
ended up selling the last 2 toy cameras as i didn't use them but on first impressions i think i might actually end up shooting more with this.
i can see that a fast compact prime will be needed though as that would gain me 2-3 stops on the shutter and keep the iso down.
bonus is my huge olympus FL-50 flash will work with the gf1 -

So after a day with the GF1, think I'll miss my 5D if I swapped?
-
• #914
i would keep both.
it's easy to use but no match for looking through a full frame viewfinder and composing/metering/adjusting the shot. -
• #915
that'd be nice, but a touch excessive

I notice that too with my digital compact, especially in wedding where I can able to get in some shoot where a big imposing DSLR can look.. well, imposing!

i'll not be using it for any kind of work, files aren't up to scratch, just for 'snaps'
for me weddings are for getting pissed at nothing to do with photography. -

I don't think it's that great an idea too, Pentax released a similar one called the Q, except it actually have those tiny compact sensor that give an almost infinite depth of field;

To the pussies who can't be arsed to take their DSLR out: man the fuck up! Decide which one lens you're going to shoot with that day, sling it in whatever bag you're taking and go. In fact, don't even take a bag.

If I'm not planning to take photographs I'll just put my DP1 in my cycling bag. I can actually fit the DP1 in my jersey pockets quite easily as well.
Otherwise I'll just throw a small camera bag with my 5D in my rucksack.

if im shooting then all the kit including tripod and laptop goes and it's too heavy to carry on your back. fair enough if im going to go for a wander then i can just take a couple of lenses and 1 body but none of my work kit will go with me if im cycling or not taking a bag with me, that's what the gf-1 is for.

One DSLR with a single lens add up nearly half the weight of my touring gears, it make a huge difference.
APS-C sized compact's perfect for cycling.

I've thought about touring with DSLR before and I've got to say bugger that. I'm more than happy with the DP1 quality when it comes to the weight of all the other camera gear I could have taken!

From the pussy who can't be arsed: if I can get the same image quality from a smaller camera for the same monies, why wouldn't I?
