a grd IV would be nice, but prob pricey? grd3 is 275-300 notes on ebay which is digestible. Did some googling and found
“Body looks V similar, slightly lowered hot shoe, more colors in screen (up to 1.25million from current 800 or so), an extra autofocus sensor on front of body, slightly larger thumb area. Same sensor, new processing engine.”

Doesn't sound like enough of an improvement?

new processing engine does, but it's the same usual jump from each ricoh.
although i'm not surprise, it is an excellent camera, I can understand why they didn't change it that much, just improved it.
it'll be a big jump from a GRD-1 though.
point being, once the GRD-IV is announced, the GRD-III should be cheaper to buy.

Go to Jessops or any good camera shop.
have a play at each camera within your price range.
find the one you liked the feel of and liked the user interface.
write down the name and model, then order cheaper one online.

thought about that, but wanted some recommendations incase theres a great offer out there.

Ed, can you stop saying 'user interface' please? it's like being trapped in a lift with a sales rep.

That Sony seemed good with £70 off it's original price, so I reckon you should go and play with it to see if you like it.

Although these look pretty good;

Thanks ed they look good, my budget it about £70 really wil opt for less but will have a play with some cameras.

have a look at dpreview.com and similar sites and do some research
i might have a ricoh grd1 for sale soon, won't ask much at all for it since it's missing the cover ring around the lens + the settings wheel's little thingie to stop it spinning is stuck

I'd go for a panasonic, they make great pictures imo. We've had one for around 2 years now and Mrs. Spenceey uses it all the time now.

p.s. The new announced fuji x10 looks nice!

This has no doubt been asked before but what products do you all recommend for sensor cleaning? Both dry and wet. It would appear that the Nikon D7000 has a bit of a problem with oil spots on the low pass filter; oil from somewhere in the camera.

(the new x10 does look nice)

I'd like to know this as well. My 5D could do with it's yearly clean!

don't ever touch it just take it into fixation when necessary and put double sided tape on your end caps.
if you start cleaning at home it seems to need a clean every week. i only ever use a rocket blower. -
• #844
Unfortunately Google suggests there is a problem with the D7000 that Nikon will not acknowledge; tiny oil drops on the filter from inside the camera. So more frequent cleaning might be necessary.

A rocket blower sounds exciting.
(probably isnt)

Friend of mine left his in a hotel room once. When he rang up to get it back, the cleaners had thrown it away because they thought it was a sex toy.

"friend", of course.

have wanted this camera for years, could i get it for cheaper?
some rumour is said that the GR-D IV is to be announced on September the 15th, which mean the already excellent GR-D III will be even cheaper, perhaps go for the III if you liked your Ricoh very much?
I mean, it does exactly what you want it to do, the new one will have a faster lens so you can take low light shot easily (something I quite like doing on the GR II).
